| dracodragon03-15-08, 08:47 PM | i want to play in a game as a blade elf(race)/runic blade(class) but my dm says that since it doesnot say that the blade elf is of elven blood than i cant be a runic blade i say that it doesnt have to say that becouse a blade elf is an pure bloodedelf becase it doesnt say Half or is fused with an animal template( like halfdragon or a feline varent please tel me which is right is a blade elf unable to become a runicblade(an elven blood only class) becase it has BLADE infront of elf or can it become one because it doesnt have an animal template or is a HALF-blade elf |
| jaelis03-15-08, 08:52 PM | What book is blade elf from? |
| calronmoonflower03-15-08, 09:14 PM | my dm says that since it doesnot say that the blade elf is of elven blood than i cant be a runic blade The Rules As Written also doesn't say that a elf is of elven blood. Some things are just so elementary that they shouldn't need to be spelled out. An elf being an elf is one of them. http://www.badongo.com/t/640/3157695.jpg (http://www.badongo.com/pic/3157695) |
| Mad_Jack03-16-08, 07:26 AM | This is how to settle this argument... 1. Print out the stats for the blade elf. 2. Print out the text for the description of "elven blood". 3. Glue it onto the stats for the blade elf. 4. Show it to your DM. 5. Win. Ask your DM if he's of Human blood... |
| blade26503-16-08, 08:12 AM | This is the Blade Elf (http://www.geocities.com/plutoreus/monster_new_races.htm), but I'm not sure if this is the one that he is asking about. They are elves. |
| jaelis03-17-08, 12:16 AM | This is the Blade Elf (http://www.geocities.com/plutoreus/monster_new_races.htm), but I'm not sure if this is the one that he is asking about. They are elves. I agree, if that is what the OP is using, then I would say they count as elves. (The fact that no LA is listed for that race is disturbing. Though I suppose that could indicate that they are not meant to be a playable race.) |
| Saefal03-17-08, 02:12 AM | I hate to be the one dissenter but I actually went to and read the description and they would nor more count as elves then an Aasimar would count as human. In fact it even calls them an Elven aasimar. It also says that while they can breed with elves they are a true breeding race unto their own. If I was DM and read that description I would not allow a elf only class as they are a true breeding planar variant like an Aasimar or Tiefling. Much of a class racial restriction is due to the culture that surrounds a race, the upbringing and access to traditions and normatives that support the class. A blade elf would not have that amongst elven peoples so again, no to the Blade elf as a elf race. |
| calronmoonflower03-17-08, 02:35 AM | It it is incomplete and doesn't actually say what type they have at all. The closest existing class is the fey'ri (mentioned within) which does have the elven blood trait. Fey'ri are the elven version of tiefling, so naturally it would follow that they have the same trait. Other than that they are explicitly called elves in their name. |
| herrdoktor03-17-08, 04:37 AM | so, what the hell??? there is a fairly important piece of information left out on the document from the linked site. i see no LA, what with excellent resistances, strictly better stat adjustments that gray elves, detect magic and true seeing permanently on, huge base speed, natural armor (typed as racial, of course), and immunity to mind affecting spells, among other ridiculous bs. (and if the lack of LA is not a simple oversight, someone's head needs to be examined. by an illithid (who prob. will have to eat again that day...)). hrmmm.. what is the proper LA for this nonsense? +2, +3? +4, higher? |
| Scion of Coldshard03-17-08, 02:20 PM | That whole thing is just messed up.. I would say it is better to not have it in the game than to try to use it.. if it was in the game for some reason then just use LA -, but I would highly recommend simply deleting the whole thing! ;/ It is stupid, very poorly defined, and completely crazy. |
| Whusmaname03-17-08, 05:36 PM | I think the DM's right to say that blade-elf is not pure elf in your specific game, whether or not he can be proven wrong, as the DM's word is LAW for the game you're in. He might have a very good reason why he's not allowing you to have an upper-hand in his setup (That he's not divulging to his players). If you don't like it, speak to your DM about it outside the game. If he gives in and allows you to do elf status, GR8! If not... Sorry for you! OR: Try choosing an actual elf (according to his standards). |
