02-18-08, 02:24 PM OK, after some searching, I can't seem to find my answer, so here I am asking the multitudes...

For a Goliath (with Powerful Build, obviously), I understand a larger weapon can be used with no penalty....but, can a 2H medium weapon be used as a one-handed 'large' weapon then?

i.e. Could a Goliath dual-wield Greataxes with no size penalty? (I'm not looking at the potential 2-wpn penalties, mind you, just the size issue.)

02-18-08, 02:32 PM That was a 3.0 thing. Now a 2h great sword isn't a 1h large longsword they are two different weapons. He would require a large longsword not a medium great sword wielded one handed.

02-18-08, 03:03 PM No, but you can use two one handed battleaxes. Which with scaled up damage are very similar to greataxes. I would suggest you invest in the oversized two weapon fighting feat. - if i had to guess a location for it, complete warrior.

02-19-08, 06:57 PM A Goliath can use weapons designed for a creature one size larger without penalty.

To me this means a Goliath can use Medium weapons as easily as he can large. You could wield a medium greatsword with as a medium creature two hands at no penaly.

However, wielding a medium greatsword one handed as a large creature (as you are capable of doing so) means you incur a -2 penaly for useing an inappropriatly sized weapon. A large longsword is a better investment.

You may not agree with the weapon sizing rules and maybe it is one extra step that some don't need. I rationalize it that weapons are crafted with a certain sized user in mind. Perhaps the Halfling greatsword's handle would feel uncomfortable as a longsword in the hands of a human.
