| Gagnrath03-17-07, 08:43 PM | Ok my friendly local dm after killing off the whole party a couple of weeks ago decided to start an adventure and the rest of the group (elf fanboys) decided to have an all elven group. since there are elf subraces that wotc has published to do everything else I figured I'd ask if there is a psionic elven subrace. |
| Thomar_of_Uointer03-17-07, 09:05 PM | Not that I know of. It shouldn't be too hard, just replace something with a bonus power point. Low-light vision and the racial bonus against enchantments looks like its worth 2 pp. However, there's really no point to this. A PHB elf can take levels in psion anyways. |
| BadCatMan03-17-07, 09:09 PM | In a heavy psionics game, an elf won't be getting much use out of it's Sleep spell immunity. But I've never seen it get used much in a standard magic game either. But with transparency, the saves versus enchantments translate to saves versus telepathy, so the elf is still good. |
| Gagnrath03-17-07, 10:27 PM | Ah anything can take levels in psion, I just sort of figured that somewhere along the line that wotc in their desire to make an elven subrace that can do everything would make one that was inherently psionic if not thats cool I found something more evil in the psionics handbook than a psion anyways. |
| runestar03-17-07, 10:32 PM | You could just have them spend their 1st lv feat on hidden talent to simulate their latent psionic talents...;) |
| Asadeseth03-18-07, 03:26 AM | Their is no Psychic elf, nore should their ever be one. -Asadeseth, psionics fan and enthusiast. |
| JulesCARV03-18-07, 03:37 AM | In a heavy psionics game, an elf won't be getting much use out of it's Sleep spell immunity. But I've never seen it get used much in a standard magic game either. I was playing a half-elf, and a sorcerer-bandit cast sleep on the party! Granted, I didn't benefit, because both my DM and I forgot that I was immune, so my half-elf fell asleep, but if that hadn't slipped both of our minds, it would have benefited me! And just for Asadeseth Daimond Elf These elves are more introspective and meditative than most elves, a trait which sometimes makes them less observant of the outside world, but gives them great inner strength. Daimond elves learn to channel at least some psionics while growing up. Ability adjustments: +2 wisdom, -2 constitution. These ability adjustments replace the high elf's ability adjustments. Daimond elves do not receive a racial bonus to listen, spot, or search checks, nor can they automatically detect secret doors. Naturally psionic: Daimond Elves gain 2 power points at 1st level. +2 racial bonus on autohypnosis and concentration checks. Daimond elves also count as being trained in autohypnosis, even if they do not have any ranks. Favored Class: Psychic Warrior. This replaces the high elf's favored class. |
| Asadeseth03-18-07, 12:54 PM | aaahhhem Fan boy Honestly the thing is elves realy realy nead an achillea's heal, simply put as they are their anoying, frankly its good when there are things they simply are not good at. |
| RobbyPants03-18-07, 11:01 PM | Grey elves (both in the MM and the DMG) have a LA +0 and get +2 Int (along with other racial adjustments). There's nothing making them naturally psionic, but the +2 to your primary manifesting stat is always nice! |
| Orchomenos03-19-07, 01:27 PM | You could add the Phrenic Template to any elf... |
| WinterPsionic03-19-07, 02:01 PM | Xephs are probably your best bet. |
| The_Shaman03-19-07, 04:22 PM | Hmm, maybe it could be an elf-duergar hybrid? Just make sure you have something heavy and handy in your hand when you break it to the group :D . Edit: Then tell them: okay, wise guys, it's that or elf half-illithids. Now, who wants the tentacles? |
| AZNsupermarket03-20-07, 12:49 PM | Are are three elven races with a bonus to Int and LA +0. They all make great psions. Fire Elf: +2 Dex +2 Int -2 Con -2 Cha, medium, 30 ft., wizard, humanoid (elf), unearthed arcana pg.17 Gray Elf: -2 Str +2 Dex -2 Con +2 Int, medium, 30 ft., wizard, humanoid (elf), monster manual pg.104 Sun Elf: +2 Int -2 Con, medium, 30 ft., wizard, humanoid (elf), forgotten realms pg.15 |
| thepsionicbard03-25-07, 03:32 PM | Xephs are probably your best bet. xephs are not elves  |
| InkBlot03-26-07, 03:40 AM | Xephs are elf-like. They could be described as Athasian elves, minus the cleptomania and pointy ears. |
| The Ubbergeek09-21-07, 06:25 PM | aaahhhem Fan boy Honestly the thing is elves realy realy nead an achillea's heal, simply put as they are their anoying, frankly its good when there are things they simply are not good at. psionic come from the mind, from the thinking... Anyone can be psionic, if your mind Realises. Kind of like how everyone can be a cleric, as faith is a matter of thought. |
| The_Shaman09-22-07, 03:49 AM | Actually, does anyone know more about xeph racial history? They do look somewhat elflike, although (thankfully) without the near-trademark -2 to constitution. |
| Nexis09-22-07, 04:16 AM | Ah anything can take levels in psion, I just sort of figured that somewhere along the line that wotc in their desire to make an elven subrace that can do everything would make one that was inherently psionic if not thats cool I found something more evil in the psionics handbook than a psion anyways. I really hope you meant Expanded Psionics Handbook... And the Xeph live in these dark forests and love Soul Bladeing all the time. Also there are temples. |
