Hi!

If someone choose a race with large size, +4 str +2 con and -2 dex, with an LA +1, what modifiers/LA should he get if he changes it to medium size with powerfull built(sp?)? Because in my estimation (which is not the best :D) he gets almost all the benefits (except reach) and no penalties with this "combo". IShould it be still LA +1? I think it does not absolutely deserve an additional LA, but I would certainly reduce the strength-bonus to +2 only... You guys?

I don't know of any large sized race with a +1 LA (with the possible exception of a monster race that has HD and LA) so your question may be moot (Half-ogre got errata'd in Races of Destiny to be a +2 LA race instead of the +1 LA listed in Savage Species).

Looking at it on its face, changing the race from a large sized creature to a medium sized creature with powerful build (and keeping the stat adjustments as is) is not enough to lower the LA to 0. I don't think there is any race with powerful build that has an LA of 0 (though maybe that Redcap monster in MM IV might have an LA 0 since its a small creature with powerful build).

Even if you reduce the strength bonus to +2, I still think it would be a +1 LA race (though on the weaker end of the spectrum of +1 LA races but still +1 LA).

The race in question is tauren from Warcraft rpg (the first one)

My goal is not to "justify" an LA reduction; it is to prove that its still just as good, or even better (exchanging reach for better AC, and better size/facing or what) as the original creature (it only occured to me later that an LA+1 in Warcraft is not exactly LA+1 in standard D&d)
