Question about Dragonborn:Mechanics of Rebirth [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-09-07, 06:46 PM In the article on Dragonborn, it says to see the Sidebar for the Mechanics of Rebirth - but there is no Sidebar in the online article, and I don't have the book.

I have a player who wants to go through the process in a game I am taking over, and I need to know what advantages he'll keep and what he'll lose - or I at least need to be able to tell him what will happen, so he can make a fair decision.

The article says "A dragonborn loses many of her original racial traits and gains the racial traits of the dragonborn race (see below). ". It details what they gain, but never mentions what they lose.

If it matters, his current race is a Goliath (I think that is wha they are called", a massive mountain dwelling race, knowm for great strength and massive bulk.

04-09-07, 07:31 PM I belive that the keep abilitie modifiers and the ability of overizeedness(cant think of the name but the ability that makes them count as large when its benifical).

04-09-07, 09:03 PM Yes - I know what they gain - but I can't find what they lose from their previous racial abilities. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

The article pretty clearly states what they gain - it just refers to a non-existent sidebar for what they lose, and I was hoping someone who has the book could fill me in.

04-09-07, 09:25 PM Goliath's (and any other race that has the racial feature) keep Powerful Build upon rebirth. I would suggest telling the player that he needs to buy the book if he wants to play the race (or see about getting the entire group to chip in and buy the book).

Barring either of those happening you should get up to a book store and copy down the sidebar. This should be a temporary measure though as the book has a lot of good info in it.

04-10-07, 05:34 PM Well, he owns the book, I don't (and don't plan to) - and I didn't want to have to wait until Saturday to make a decision. I'll just have to make a spur of the moment decision then. I was hoping to have a bit of time to think about it.
