Question on changing races. Orc to kobold. [Archive] - Wizards Community

01-19-08, 01:25 PM Ok, in a campaign there is to be a female orc child at age 12 that is going to be turned into a kobold. (don't ask, just roll with me here)

My question is. When she is turned into a kobold, will she be a 12 year old kobold? (which is an adult) or will she become the equivalent to a kobold child?

I ask because kobolds age different. They are young adults between 6-10 years old (which i guess is 18-22 or so). and adults at age 11+.

So thus will she be an adult 12 year old kobold or w/e the equivalent is? I am having a real tough decision on this. Obviously she is a child in her current form but does physical maturity carry on to w/e race you become? or is it the body changes to the maturity of w/e race you become in terms of age?

Kobolds 31 months to 5 years old are considered juveniles

This is a real pickle i'm in!

01-19-08, 01:44 PM Unless spells says something like "it changes age to...", it just changes the race, and remember that if the spells doesn't say something like "it changes the mind too", mind of original creature stays.So:

- Yes, she would have the body of an adult -ready to fight kobold.
- No, she would not have the brain of an adult kobold, she still would think as a little child.

Something like "Big","Freaky Friday", or "13 Going on 30".

01-19-08, 02:08 PM But turning a 400 year old elf into an orc wouldn't kill him. This would point to assuming the relative age by race and not absolute age in years.

01-20-08, 10:30 AM Changing the race of an elf , just will turn into a very old orc, but he wouldn't die, he will just become old, and because the immortality is not in the physical traits of the elf (funny trick isn't it?) it must be a gift given to his soul, that would allow him to live many more years.

To simplify the things and make it a little more "human", let's say the spell works like the druid's reincarnation spell:

- The spell gives you a 6+1d10 years old body(reincarnation gives you a young adult body, this can give you either a young or an adult body)
- replace the previous subject’s racial adjustments.
- Gains all abilities associated with his new race, but it doesn’t automatically speak the language of the new form.

So if the child gets lucky she will get a 7 years old body, if not she would become a 16 years old kobold,I would dare to say she would become an 11 or a 10 years old kobold.DM roll of course.
