Well I was wondering if anyone had some luck of chance to get information EARLY ON before hand about what the races are going to include in the players handbook 4th edition. If you can possibly be able to post up your found information of said rules and regulations about different race abilities that might be included with what will be put in curtesy of new edition?

In other words, what has anyone found out about it by now?

Humans are surely in.
Elves are surely in.
Dwarves are surely in.

Halflings have been confirmed.
Half-elves have been confirmed.

Gnomes and Half-orcs have not been confirmed, but apparently it has been confirmed that one of the 3rd Ed. Races is out from the PHB.

There are a lot of pictures of some horned humanoids with lizard tails around. Some suspect them to be tieflings, but more probably it's some new race.

James Wyatt stated that since a tiefling is on the cover of (I can't remember if its the races preview book or the PHB) that you can assume tieflings will be in the first PHB. He also said that the are discussing leaving the gnome out of the first PHB. They also said that all PHBs, DMGs, and MMs will be considered core, not just the first iteration.

Guess:

Variant racial traits for all the core races (as kobold)

kobold and goblins became core races

Racial feats and Racial Class Levels

You can't really get rid of the Half-Orcs, based on racial balance:

Human is the neutral race
Elf is the dextrous race
Dwarf is the hardy race
Half-orc is the strong race
Halfling is the small race

Then, half-elves exist wherever humans and elves are. They could also be the charismatic race.
Aasimar could be the wise race.
Tiefling could be the smart race.

Who knows. But I suspect that Gnomes don't have as much of a place as they used to. Out of all of the players I know, I only know one person who likes Gnomes.

Ya know it's fun making guesses. Since half-dragon is getting popular somehow, what are your guesses of them involving such a system with Half-D?

My sources say Gnome got the Ax.

This guy gave me a good 411 on 4e coming out 2 months ahead of time.

Wow...let us take a moment of silence while we string forth the final sadness of the loosing of such a mini little tone deaf bardic race and pray that...the bard class goes down with the son of a *****es...

If gnomes got the axe, I will be quite happy. I really didn't understand the point of them. They were so closely related to dwarves throughout their entire history, that I always wondered why they didn't just become a subrace of Dwarf.

just be aware that the silence is just a whisper gnome sneaking up on you. we don't know facts yet, let's not jump to conclusions.

that said, if gnomes are not axed, I would love to see them more prevalent. they're not very well represented among the playerbase. not that it's wizards' fault. but something to make them just a little more enticing to a broader base would be rad.

Keep the gnomes and get rid of the half-orcs.

Gnomes really don't have a real place in dnd, they seem to just be an afterthought. Their too much like dwarfs stat wise, and flavor wise they and halfling just compete over the same area. Really its just better to get rid of either gnome or halfling (in the latter case expand the gnome into the traditional halfling place). Half-orcs can stay, but they just need a make over.

All 4e posts belong on the 4e board. Thanks.
