| Hideous Phidias05-23-07, 10:34 AM | I need a good race for a Samurai Cahracter I am thinking about playing. The Campaign is Ptolus Monte Cook's city Campaign, so I need somethhing that will be at home in the city. I am looking for something new but not with a high level adjustment of racial hitdie. Any ideas? Thank |

That bonus feat can be wonderful. If you don't care about your mental stats, an Orc gets +4 to Str. The problem is, I'm not sure how the race fits in with your feeling "at home in the city" clause. Also, just out of curiosity, which version of samurai are you using (from which book)? |
| DarkSamuraiKyo05-23-07, 12:55 PM | Samurai eh? well you have the Human which RobbyPants already mention Dwarves are another good race...Orcs well they tend not to be as focus as a Samurai Half-orc and Half-elf make good samurai and last pick an elf. Me personally I would go for the Dwarf human, half-orc or Half-elf for a Samurai feel |
| DwarfPcfan05-23-07, 02:06 PM | I second dwarf, dwarves are the best at anything they do. But more importantly, they are both the coolest race to role-play at their culture fits well into the samurai feel. Other good suggestions would be human of course, If your using the Samurai from complete warrior (probably the worst samurai class ever done) then you'll need charisma from their even with a -2 to charisma, dwarf will still remain one of your best choices. However, mechanically, I'd suggest lesser asimaar from Races of Faerun to get you a +2 to charisma and wisdom. Since you basically look like a beautiful human then this will certainly help you when exploring Pholtus by giving you an edge in social interaction. |
| DarkSamuraiKyo05-23-07, 04:39 PM | I second that the Samurai of Complete Warrior but I will go with the Dwarf over the half-angel why because the Samurai fits more with the Dwarves culture and behavior the asimaars are good for the abilities and charisma but to me they just don't fit the Samurai well but the Dwarf on the other hand fits the Samurai feel. |
| Identitystolen05-24-07, 12:57 AM | Other than what has been already said; hobgoblins generally tend to have a martial tradition, so they might a good choice. |
| Johnny_Angel05-24-07, 01:45 AM | Gnome; just because I think it would be funny. |
| JarionSilverblades05-24-07, 11:09 AM | I second that the Samurai of Complete Warrior but I will go with the Dwarf over the half-angel why because the Samurai fits more with the Dwarves culture and behavior the asimaars are good for the abilities and charisma but to me they just don't fit the Samurai well but the Dwarf on the other hand fits the Samurai feel. I'd have to agree with the Dwarf. Also they're speed isn't hindered by heavy armor the way other races are. |
