I'm making a sea based campaign, My available races are the two (or is it three) new races from stormwrack, the water adapted standard races from stormwrack, sea elves, merpeople, tritons, and a secluded (good) group of sahugin. I need Ideas for some others please.

Please state the source and the edition (if its not 3.0 or 3.5).

I had a player that just last week was sorta wanting to play an aquatic elf for something new. This was just in conversation though, not really serious.

We play core 3.5 rules "almost" pure.

So anyway, we pulled up the SRD, and looked them up, and found out that aquatic creatures that have the amphibious quality (which is defined Nowhere) are about what aquatic elves are, but they instead "have" gills, and that they can stay in the air for 1 hour/pt con. Which then gets to suffocation rules, which would have to be modified somehow to "take longer" or something, bleh!

Well, that would probably eventually make for a nice plot twist and all, or alternately exclude him from maybe 1/5 adventures.

Then, we switched over on a lark to the other SRD, the hypertext one with some of that UA stuff that we don't even own, and found out that they changed aquatic elves with two words: "No gills". Oh, that really bloody helped. What then? They just don't breathe water at all now?

About that time, the other two players arrived and we threw up our hands in disgust and shelved the idea of a playable aquatic elf.

PS: In AD&D, there was a great write-up for them, in Dragon magazine, titled, "Children of the Deep" if IRC, but I haven't actually seen that ancient article in almost 20 years I'll bet. But I recall it having all sorts of neat things, like they could dive into the water and not make noise or a splash or ripple, and such neat little skills. The only other thing I remember was that their friends were dolphins and their racial enemies were sahuagin and sharks.

Pick a race and add the Template that makes a race Aquatic, I don't have the book infront of me so I'm not sure of the name, I know it's in Stormwrack.
