Replacement for a Racial Ability? [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-09-07, 10:35 AM Just wanted to get some ideas for a replacement racial ability for the Scro's +1 to attack vs. Elves. I am currently trying to mold them into a reasonable Half-Saiyan race, and was trying to get an idea for an ability.

Since the half-saiyans of the series (all three) seemed to be highly proficient with their ki, I was thinking either grant them the Wild Talent feat for free, or, and much more likely granting them the Naturally Psionic ability for 1 or 2 power points. Any advice?

03-09-07, 11:12 AM Naturally psionic sounds right. It lets them qualify for psionic feats like Psionic Fist much more easily.

Are you going to use the Ki Blast feat from the PHB II? It might make more sense to make a focus-based feat identical to it.

03-09-07, 11:51 AM I made an NPC version of Goku using just that feat progression, but it doesn't seem quite right. I'm allowing them to either take that feat tree or go Psionic, as I see some of the techniques being Psionic powers, such as Piccolo's Special Beam Cannon being an augmented Crystal Shard, with a bit of a flavor change, and then going with Quicken Power, to show how he can do it near instantly later in the series. For the Kamehameha I was planning on either Crystal Shard, modified to do bludgeoning damage, or Concussion Blast, as the force behind that technique is based on how much force you put it in, which would suggest Augmentation.

The fun thing is that, for Saiyans, I'm simply using the Giff race from Dragon 339, with Improved Unarmed Strike instead of Exotic Weapon Prof. (Firearms), as they are more apt to fight Hand-to-Hand, and don't show quite as much skill with Ki Attacks.

I also plan on making Super Saiyans the result of high fighting experience, something that every Saiyan can become, with the "one in 1000 years" being the Legendary Super Saiyan, which is an Epic Paragon Saiyan, who takes level in the Super Saiyan class, which is a Paragon Class for the Giff.
