So, I had to make a new third level character in a savage tide campaign (the previous one got eaten by lions in the arena). We only have three players currently and are lacking a divine caster, so I decided Cleric would be a good idea. My concern was, I would pretty much have to wear full plate, which is not a good idea for a sea campaign.

I then came across Sea Folk out of Races of Destiny. Boy does that seem like a good match. With the swim speed and the hold breath ability, falling in the ocean is no longer a concern at all. Net and Trident as simple weapons also give it much better weapon options than the average cleric (who doesn't have the war domain). She will be a NG worshiper of Istishia with the Water and Travel domains.

Anyway, I am kind of amazed at a useful aquatic race that isn't crippled while on land. Has anyone else noticed this awesome race?

I believe they do suffer on land. I haven't got the book infront of me, but don't they need to be sumersed in water atleast once every two days or take con damage?

Yes, I have. Everyone poo-pooed Races of Destiny when it was released, and therefore, few saw the books merits. I actually like RoD better than RotW. That's my opinion.

Cleric is a great combo with the Sea-Kin. I also liked the Scout variant in Stormwrack for Sea-Kin as well.

I think that it's once a week. And since he's playing Savage Tides, I don't think that he'll have a problem with that. Plus, as a Cleric, can't he just dig a hole and cast create water?

Right, Sea Kin only needs to be submerged once a week, which is much more manageable than the few rounds that most aquatic races get out of water. You never know, things might get bad at some point, but I assume Savage Tide won't have long desert areas.
