SHould half races qualify for classes of their parentage? [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-07-07, 03:10 AM I was just wondering what others opinions on this subject were. SHould say a half dragon be able to qualify for normally only dragon only classes or feats asuming he meats all other prerequisits? SHould a half fiend be able to qualify for fiendish outsider only? Should a half vmapire be able to qualify for undead for feats of classes? In some cases, I would argue yes. Especially in the case of breath weapons...

What do others have to say?

A Half-Dragon's creature type is Dragon, and can therefor apply for Dragon-only freats.
A Half-Fiend's creature type is outsider, and can apply for all feats that require outsider to be taken, but not outsider with the [Evil] subtype (which I can't recall if they do, but I don't think they have it.)
And lastly, Half-Vampires are also Undead, so they can take Undead-only feats, PrCs, etc, just like the rest of them.

Actually in the case of the half vampire, their type is unchanged... So they don't become undead. And I was extending this to pretty much all halfbreeds, like the planetouched (who while not halfbreeds, are close enough). Like, could a tiefling take the fiend of possession prestige class?

IIRC, the prc requires the evil subtype, which a tiefling does not possess. :(
I am not sure if it should be allowed though, seems quite out of place.
