| Lionhearted06-25-07, 08:24 PM | Sighted ones [Need suggestion for mystical true name] The sighted one's are basically humans that for some reason (feel free to help out) gained a powerful ocular gift. NOTE: this race was not made with balance as a factor but rather i had a concept i felt i needed to do +2 Wis, -2 Cha All the things a sighted see through his life leaves him quite worldwise and insightful, but at the same time pragmatic and cynical * Medium sized humanoid (human) * base speed 30ft * enhanced insight Sighted receives the double wisdom bonus gained through aging, they never receive the charisma bonus gained however, their senses may be sharp, and they realise what is going on around them, although they realise it far to well, greatly charring their belief in humanity and the world * Perfect vision A Sighted's vision can not be impaired by ANY means, they see perfectly through darkness (even magical darkness), natural concealment, poor visibilty, fog, and other similar effects ,they cannot be blinded by bright lights or similar non-magical effects however this doesnt provide them with a immunity against blindness. * Keen eyesight A 1st level sighted gains +2 to spot, vision related searchs, and on saves against gaze attacks * The Second eye (Eye of insight [need suggestion for mystical true name]) At 6th level the sighted ones evolve their trademark trait, a second Iris drastically different from his first, that Lies slighty of from the first, interlaping only a small section. This eye provides the sighted with an additional +2 bonus to spot, vision related searchs and saves against gaze attacks (total +4) * The power of insight (sp) As a standard action the sighted can meld his two irises forming one unison penetrating stare for a number of rounds equal to his character level, this however put great psychical pressure on the host, leaving him fatigued for the remaining of the day (or until he rest), A sighted one can overstep his daily limit but the first round on the extension leaves him exhausted, and the third knocks him unconscious along with 2 points of temporal wisdom damage. the power of insight grants the following benefits * True seeing as cast by a spellcaster of the sighted's character level * doubles the spot and search bonuses (+8 for a 6th or higher level sighted, +16 for a sighted above level 18) * Grants immunity against gaze attacks and blinding * By sacrificing a move-action on concentrating the sighted can see through one square centimeter/ character level of solid material * at 18th level he also gains the ability to see magical auras as by Arcane sight * Dual vision at reaching 6th level a sighted one receives a partial protection against vision orientated attacks whenever he fails the save of a vision oriented attack (Such as a medusas petrifying gaze, a vampire's eyebite, or a simple blind spell) his Second Iris will absorb the attack and fade away until the effects duration has ended, is removed or dispelled, during this time the sighted loses all benefits of his second eye, a Sighted of level 18 or higher can do the same with his third eye (the third eye is absorbed first) * The third eye (Seer's eye [Need suggestion for mystical true name]) At 18th level the sighted one developes a third Iris unique to the two others, crowning the other irises and similary interlocking with them, creating a "triune" pattern where the eyes meet. The third eye improves the sighted bonuses to Spot, search and saves against gaze attacks by +4 (total +8) Additionally as it grants the sighted one a direct link to the future and past, he gains a +1 insight bonus to Armor class, Attack rolls and Saves. * The power of Vision (sp) the seer's eye provides the Sighted with a powerful link to the flow of time granting him the following abilities * Sensitivity to psychical impressions, the sighted gains a innate ability similar to the power with the same name, this ability triggers as fast as he enters a area of a particular turmoiled past, and then function as the power manifested by a psion of his/her level * Once per day the Sighted can cast Clairevoyance as a spellcaster of his character level * Foresight: This ability taxes the third eye to it's absolute maximum, using it incurs a 2 point wisdom burn (ability damage that can only be healed through rest) and leaves the sighted exhausted (after the foresight has been expended). using it more than once a week doubles the wisdom burn on the succesive attempt, when active it functions exactly like the spell with the same name, with a caster level equals to the sighted's character level. * Triune (The interlocking eye [mystical true name needed]) At 20th level the sighted reach his peak, his three eyes reach their full capacity and the Triune interlock between the eyes take a clear golden sheen (still leaving the separate eyes quite visible) this grants the sighted one immunity against gaze attacks alongwith an additional +1 insight bonus to Ac, attacks and saves. * The power of three (sp) A sighted will never use the power of three except as a last desperate resort, as using it renders him permanently blind with no hope of restoring his vision by any means, not even wish or miracle can restore his eyesight. when the power of three is activated, all the sighted eyes start glowing with a strong golden sheen slowly devouring the sclera (white part) until his eyes are but radiant golden orbs, he then fires a radiant golden ray from his eyes (actually it is the eyes) leaving nothing but empty eye sockets (this is a extremely painfull process that inflicts 2 points of constitution drain on the sighted) the ray functions as a disintegrate using twice the sighted's character level as caster level in addition of automatically penetrating any spell resistance nothing short of a anti-magic aura can stop the beam, the save for the beam is equal to 10 + Half character level+ the character wisdom modifier + 5 Favored class: Any, even if they see what other don't they're still human in the end |
| Lawlicron06-26-07, 01:11 AM | I kind of like how this looks. But it all seems a little much. When I read it, it feels like you took the abilities from a race based PrC and just gave them to this thing. You could always make the race alot less overpowering and make a PrC to go with it that will grant all the crazy extra abilities. It just feels like way too much to read, the only thing I think players will see is +2 Wis. Also if there is no LA attached to it be prepared to see only "Sighted One" clerics and druids for awhile. |
| Lionhearted06-26-07, 08:48 AM | Never said it was intended LA less, power always comes at a price |
| Lionhearted06-26-07, 09:40 AM | no more comments? :( |
| Lionhearted06-26-07, 07:40 PM | bump |
| Lionhearted06-29-07, 05:16 PM | :bump: it might need a race based prc, but in that case i need :help: |
| AMGriffin06-29-07, 05:44 PM | A very negative and fatalistic race in terms of philosophy, that works out I guess. I'd flesh them out a bit more though, having good eyesight alone isn't going to make you strong willed and insightful, nor is it going to cause you to be lacking in social graces. |
