| Khadmus08-25-07, 06:16 PM | What is the lowest CR/lowest ECL creature with 6 arms? I am asking this because of the marilith weapon in Savage Species that I find intruiging, but mariliths aren't suited for lower-level play. |
| TiwazTyrsfist08-25-07, 06:43 PM | Mariliths are the only creature I can think of that HAS six arms. Having extra arms is pretty powerful. You make a fighter/rogue, go Multi-weapon fighting... "Oh look, my BAB +5 lets me make 6 attacks at +3..." Little OP... |
| Khadmus08-25-07, 06:46 PM | "Little OP"? Off-topic, sort of, Swashbuckler/Rogue for Daring Outlaw would be my preference. |
| TiwazTyrsfist08-25-07, 08:30 PM | OP, in this connotation, is Over Powered. |
| Khadmus08-25-07, 10:59 PM | Once more off-topic, what uses are there for OP? Original Poster. OverPowered. ?? |
| Paravel08-26-07, 06:44 AM | Off Point. Original Point. Older Person. Old Poop. Odoriferous Pretension. Offensive Performance. |
| Khadmus08-26-07, 07:49 AM | Optimus Prime Ocean Pacific One Piece Opus Number Orange Pekoe (I love that tea) Ordo Praedicatorum Overall Position Courtesy of wikipedia. Anybody else ever have orange pekoe? BTW I am still looking for an answer to my original question, so treat this as a bump. |
| nighttree08-26-07, 09:51 AM | "Obah Blessed" template will get you six arms, ability bumps, Multi Weapon fighting as a bonus feat, and a grapple bonus, for a +3 LA. |
| Khadmus08-26-07, 12:35 PM | Where would this template be found? |
| nighttree08-26-07, 06:07 PM | Dragon magazine #136 |
| Avenger31408-29-07, 09:24 AM | How about a Thri-Keen Totemist? Thri-Keen is from Expanded Psioncs Handbook; Totemist is from Magic of Incarnum. Once you attain a high enough level, Bind the 'Girallion Arms' soulmeld. Presto, you now have 6 attacks. Jim |
| ToastedAmphibian08-29-07, 09:34 PM | Awaken Octopuss! oh wait, thats eight arms :{ Squid has ten..... |
| Khadmus09-04-07, 07:03 PM | 1) sADLY, i have no Magic of Incarnum. Waah. 2) 6 or more arms. Although those are a bit too aquatic for me. |
| ToastedAmphibian09-04-07, 07:26 PM | Surely you can find ways to over come that! Come on, it makes great role playing oppurtunities! (Mabey comission an "Amulet of Inverse Water Breathing" ?) An octopus has a land speed of 20, afterall.... Not bad for a small creature. A giant Octopus also has a land speed of 20, but it has 8 HD so probasbly not a great choice for a PC race. |
| ToastedAmphibian09-04-07, 07:41 PM | http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/octopus.htm After being awoken, an octopus will be a 4hd Medium magical beast with speed 20 +6str +4 dex +2 con +0 int +2 wis -8 Cha and +2 natural armor skill points = 9+Intx2 (This assumes you raise yoru int to atleast 8) Only problem is that, to use your natural arms attack (And by exstention, your improved grab ability) you have to use all yoru arms. But if you just want to hold weapons, that shouldnt be a problem. (If yoru dm tries to tell you that octopus tentactles cant hold weapons, show him some video of normal reall world octopuses opening jar lids and such) |
| Khadmus09-04-07, 08:01 PM | How does it walk? |
| MaverickWolf09-04-07, 08:11 PM | Dragon magazine #136 I'd just like to point out that this should be Dungeon Magazine #136, not Dragon. Dragon Magazine #136 is for AD&D. |
| ToastedAmphibian09-05-07, 07:53 PM | How does it walk? With its tentacles, naturally. I guess i see your point, but still, if your full attacjking yoru not walking anyways. Mabey your dm would want to give it a racial trait, something like -2 to dodge ac on any round that it attacks with more than 4 arms? (For decreased mobility) |
| Khadmus09-06-07, 03:41 PM | Oddly enough, your squid suggestion might be the second-most viable solution I've found (I have little desire to get MoI, and Dungeon magazine might be a bit hard to get OKed). |
| Egarb09-06-07, 04:13 PM | Take any race with 4 arms and slap on the multi-armed template from teh DMG 2. Viola, 6 arms. |
| Khadmus09-06-07, 05:11 PM | And what has 4 arms? Ethereal filcher is all I can think of atm. |
| tarkin09-06-07, 05:17 PM | How does it walk? It plays an Arcane Trickster and uses the Fly spell. |
| akinckillerchris09-06-07, 05:20 PM | you can play any race take insectile template and take the multiarm temp (if you can have more then one template) and you will have 6 arms so be a gnome who has been shrinked and both those templates wielding HUGE greatswords AND KILL ALL FLIES! |
| Harbin_Dunewalker09-06-07, 05:33 PM | You could be a (non-psionic) Thri-Kreen with the Multi-Armed template. Thri-Kreen are one of the few player races with 4 arms. If you use the non-psionic version, it's 2HD+3LA. If you use the psionic version, it's 2HD+4LA. |
| Borris09-06-07, 05:48 PM | If you use the rules for anthropomorphic creatures from Savage Species, you can play an anthropomorphic gaint octopus, with the following stats. I'd say it's ridiculous, but maybe it fits with what you have in mind. Keep in mind that you'll have to find a way to breathe out of water. But then, air breathing is a 3rd-level spell for clerics, druids, sorcerers, and wizards. Since you'll be starting at least at 4th-level (but probably higher if you want a class level), it shouldn't be a problem to have the party's spellcaster cast it on you (for 2 hours/caster level). Or you could save and buy a ring of ait breathing for 6,000 gp (the price of a ring of water breating). Medium Monstrous Humanoid (aquatic) 2 racial HD (2d8 hp, +2 BAB, +0 Fort, +3 Ref, +3 Will) (2+Int)x5 skill points (class skills are Escape Artist, Hide, Listen, Spot, Swim) Proficiency with simple weapons Ability scores: Str +2, Dex +6, Con -2, Wis +4, Cha -4 Speed: 20 ft., swim 30 ft. Natural Armor +5 Attacks: 6 tentacles (1d3) and bite (1d6) Face/Reach: 5 ft./5 ft. (10 ft. with tentacles) Special Attacks: Improved grab (on creature of any size), constrict (1d10 + Str) Special Qualities: Darkvision 60 ft., Ink cloud*, jet* *only when swimming Skills: An octopus can change colors, giving it a +4 racial bonus on Hide checks. An octopus also can squeeze and contort its body, giving it a +10 racial bonus on Escape Artist checks. An octopus has a +8 racial bonus on any Swim check to perform some special action or avoid a hazard. It can always choose to take 10 on a Swim check, even if distracted or endangered. It can use the run action while swimming, provided it swims in a straight line. Favored Class: Barbarian Level Adjustment: +2 (ECL 4) |
| The_Shaman09-06-07, 07:39 PM | Wasn't there a Lloth-touched template around the MMs? |
| Khadmus09-07-07, 03:43 PM | I will not play a thrall of the _____ Queen! |
| Heros_Backpack09-07-07, 04:41 PM | And what has 4 arms? Ethereal filcher is all I can think of atm. Also Girallons and the Sahuagin Mutants. |
| Roland_of_the_Eld09-08-07, 10:29 AM | Never mind. I just saw "lowest CR." Sorry. |
| baronvonboxy09-08-07, 01:11 PM | I forget the name or the CR but there is some race from MM2 maybe, they have six arms and can fire off 6 spell levels a round. |
| Prime3209-08-07, 04:12 PM | Spell weavers. They also play a role in the Age of Worms Adventure Path. |
| Khadmus09-08-07, 04:49 PM | Good suggestions, everybody. Thank you for making this the first thread of mine to reach 2 pages. Bottoms up? :pint: |
