Hey, everyone. Seeing how the elf-to-orc sub-race ratio in the old monster manual was looking a little one sided, I'd figure I come up with some more for team orc. This is my first time making up a sub-race (or six as it were), so they may seem to be a little basic, but I'd some comments on how I could make them better.

Peaches or whatever you young dudes are saying now days.

There are currently six kinds of orc in the world, each kind named after one of the seven sins, Wrath, Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Envy and Sloth. There was once a seventh orc sub-race, the Orcs of Pride, which acted as a ‘Master Race.’ The Orcs of Pride had come from a different plane with the goal of taking over the plane in which the other common races live. However, not wanting to dirty their hands, The Orcs of Pride made the other six orc kinds to do it for them. They believed with their new army, they would be unbeatable, but this would be the Orcs of Pride’s undoing as the other orcs turned on them and wiped them out. Free of their masters, the orcs began to spread out across the world and now inhabit all corners of plane.

Orcs of Wrath.
Wraith Orcs, or Common Orcs as they’re called due to the fact they have most contact with the common races (mostly made with a large axe,) life to fight.

Personality:
From the day an Orc of Wrath is born, he has an unstoppable desirer to fight. They really don’t care who they fight, so long as they’re fighting. Even good Orcs of Wrath enjoy fighting, so long as they believe what they’re fighting is evil. They respect anyone who can put up a good fight and dislike any who talks words of peace. Orcs of Wrath do have the ability to control their anger still prefer action to words.

Physical Description: Orcs of Wrath are on average taller and more muscular than human, with tough grey skin. They have a large row of bottom teeth that jut out of their mouths and two nostril holes in the middle of their face instead of a nose. They tend to have black or grey eyes and the colour of their hair ranges from black, blue or white. Their clothing is often batted and torn, many Orcs of Wrath not wanting to repair it to show the many past scraps they’ve been in.

Racial Traits:
+4 Str, -2 Cha, -2 Wis, -2 Int. Orcs of Wrath are naturally strong so like to use their muscle to solve problems (or cause them) rather than their minds.
+2 intimidate. Given the Orcs of Wrath violent nature, they are truly fearsome when they want something.
+1 to initiative. Orcs of Wrath live to fight so would beat around the bush when one starts.
Base Speed: 30 feet
Automatic Languages Common and Orc.
Bonus Languages: Draconic, Giant, Gnoll, Goblin and Abyssal.
Favored Class: Barbarian.

Orcs of Lust.
Orcs of Lust are consisted to be opposite of Orcs of Wrath, as where Orcs of Wrath seem to dislike everything, Orcs of Lust are friendly to everyone they meet, sometimes too friendly.

Personality: Orcs of Lust are social creatures. They just enjoy being around other people. They enjoy talking to people, they enjoy knowing people, they enjoy loving people. However this can quickly turn obsession, as Orcs of Lust have been known to become stalkers. They also have a love affair with beauty and grace in all things, clothing, art, speech and even war.

Physical Description:
Orcs of Lust are taller and slimmer than Orcs of Wrath, with an alien sort of beauty. Their eyes are bigger and seem to almost sparkle and their tongues appear to be a shiny silver colour. They wear bright, reveling clothing so as to draw attention to themselves.

Racial Traits:
+2 Cha, -2 Con +2 Str. Orcs of Lust are passionate, strong creatures however suffer from weak bodies.
+2 to bluff and diplomacy. Orcs of Lust do literally have silver tongues.
+2 to charm spells. Many Orcs of Lust are lovers of charm spells and raised to study them
Base Speed: 30 feet
Automatic Languages Common and Orc.
Bonus Languages: Draconic, Giant, Gnoll, Goblin and Abyssal.
Favored Class: Brad.

Orcs of Greed.
Just as their name implies, Orcs of Greed are greedy to the core. However while gold and silver are fine things to have, what they want is to know all the secrets of magic, which is something that money just can’t buy.

Personality:
Orcs of Greed are intelligent, selfish creatures that know what they want and are willing to whatever it takes to get it. Even Orcs of Greed that are trying right a wrong are willing to break a few rules to get it. They only truly like others if they believe they can gain something from it, even if it’s just a slip of information.

Physical Description:
The most notable feature of an Orc of Greed if its extra eye in the middle of its forehead, which of course helps him or her see better. Unlike other orcs, their eyes and hair tend to be bright reds or yellows. They are also less muscular than Orcs of Wrath, but more so than Orcs of Lust.

Racial Traits:
+2 Int, -2 wis +2 Str -2 Cha. Orcs of Greed are Strong and intelligent, but their greed can cloud their judgement and doesn’t earn them friends quickly.
Detect Magic once a day. Their third can help them find magic wherever it hides.
+2 to spot and search. Having three eyes can improve your eyesight.
Dark vision 60ft. Their third also allows to see them in the dark, but only in black & white.
Base Speed: 30 feet
Automatic Languages Common and Orc.
Bonus Languages: Any.
Favored Class: Wizard.

Orcs of Gluttony
The Biggest and Fattest out of all the orcs, The Orcs of Gluttony are feared by many. However they’re willing to be friendly if you’re kind enough to buy them a meal.

Personality:
To Orcs of Gluttony, size is everything. The bigger you are, the more important you are, so they spent their lives fattening themselves up. Even if they didn’t need to, Orcs of Gluttony love to eat huge meals, and can quickly make a chief very rich or very poor, depending on whether or not they pay. They also enjoy trying new meals, and can travel miles just to look for a new taste. Orcs of Gluttony tend to be fairly peasant people to deal with, so long as there something to eat, but dark tales talk of Orcs of Gluttony that eat little children to please their hunger, but they claim these are just falsehoods made up by those that dislike them. In combat, they make use of their bulk and use it to wrestle foes to the ground and crush them under their weight.

Physical Description:
Orcs of Gluttony are huge bloated creatures being 8 to 10 feet tall and weighting between 700 and 1000 pounds. It is often said that Orcs of Gluttony look like Orcs of Wrath that were blown up like big balloons, due to their round shape and the fact their heads are roughly the same size. The Orcs of Gluttony like to wear clothing that can stretch or be adjusted to meet the demand of their ever growing bodies, but exposed their stomachs to show other Orcs of Gluttony how fat they are.

Racial Traits:
+4 Con, -2 Dex +2 Str. Orcs of Gluttony are amazing tough and strong, but can be clumsy.
Large Size.
+2 to save vs poison. Orcs Gluttony amazing digesting system gives them some immunity to poison.
Damage Reduction 2/piercing. Their fat body can absorb blunt blow and slash attacks, but are weak against piercing attacks.
Base Speed: 30 feet
Automatic Languages Common and Orc.
Bonus Languages: Draconic, Giant, Gnoll, Goblin and Abyssal.
Favored Class: Monk.
Level adjustment +1

Orcs of Envy
The Orcs of Envy are the weakest out of all the orcs, but easily the most vile. There’s nothing they like better than a good knife in someone’s else back.

Personality:
Orcs of Envy have a natural distrust to everyone, even other Orcs of Envy, so they tend to live life alone. Even when an Orc of Envy joins up with a band of fellow adventures, they still tend to be withdrawn and paranoid. While other Orcs proudly fight their foes face to face, tend to only fight from the shadows, then to quickly retreat once they’re done.

Physical Description:
The Orcs of Envy are easy the lankiest of all the orcs, with long bony arms and legs. They are slightly taller then the Orcs of Wrath but appear shorter due to their habit of hunching over. They often wear dark cloaks and rags to keep themselves hided.

Racial Traits:
+2 Dex, -2 Cha. Orcs of Envy are very agile, but are weaker than other orcs and are unpleasant to deal with.
+3 Flank Attack instead of +2. Orcs of Envy love backstabbing and are well trained in it.
+2 move quietly and hide. Orcs of Envy spend most of their life avoiding others so know how not to be seen.
Base Speed: 30 feet
Automatic Languages Common and Orc.
Bonus Languages: Draconic, Giant, Gnoll, Goblin and Abyssal.
Favored Class: Rogue.

Orcs of Sloth
The Orcs of Sloth are thought of as fairly useless by other orcs due to their lack of desire to do any exciting. Orcs of Sloth are happy to live boring lives. However, adventure tends to make a bit of a habit on finding them.

Personality:
Orcs of Sloth are simple, dull creatures that really don’t want a great deal out of life. They enjoy peace and quiet, and are not fans of anyone who would disturb it. Orcs of Sloth tend to live in small villages in the middle remote places. Orcs of Sloth tend to respect nature, due to the fact that it’s fairly peaceful most of the time, but some Orcs of Sloth become Druids to make sure it stays that way. While Orcs of Sloth aren’t normally unfriendly to outsiders, it is rare that they’ll help them if it meets any hard work. Most Orcs of Sloth tend live their life in their hometown, however, some are forced to leave due to either being force to depart on some important mission, or because they’re, as the village’s elders say, ‘Adventure loving weirdos’ that want to see what’s pass the town’s boarders.

Physical Description:
The Orcs of Sloth are the shortest out of all the orcs at 5 to 6 feet tall and tend to have bad postures. They are known to develop a slight paunch due to their lack of activity, but like most orcs, are still fairly muscular. They wear simple undyed clothes as a result of their simple lives.

Racial Traits:
-2 Dex, +2 Wis +2 Str. Orcs of Sloth are slow witted, but their low back lifestyle allows them to see things others would miss.
+2 vs bullrush and grapple. It hard to get an Orc of Sloth to do something he doesn’t want to do, especial if you force him to move.
Orcs of Sloth heal 2 hit points per level from resting rather than just one. Orcs of Sloth then heal better when they laze about.
Base Speed: 30 feet
Automatic Languages Common and Orc.
Bonus Languages: Draconic, Giant, Gnoll, Goblin and Abyssal.
Favored Class: Druid.

So, are these things supposed to be physical incarnations of each deadly sin? Is there some link to the lower planes, or is it just a coincidence that each sub-race embodies these traits?

The idea is interesting, although I'm not sure I'd adopt it in my campaign. This could be an interesting varient to consider these some form of lesser outsiders. Perhaps they're mortal agents sent by fiends to spread sin across the land.

Also, this is giving me an idea to create seven races (mostly modeled after exising races), one for each sin. I would probably set it something like this:

Pride - Human
Sloth - ???
Envy - ???
Wrath - Orc
Gluttonly - Halfling? (or some new varient)
Greed - Dwarf
Lust - Elves (or something similar, but charismatic)

The idea was to make the orcs seem more interesting and less like just lowly thugs. Since orc more or less means demon, I just picked the 7 sins and went with it.

I like them. They make it worth playing an orc.

They're not bad, but seriously unbalanced in relation to eachother. Orcs of Sloth seem a bit too strong (Str and Wisdom for just dexterity?), meanwhile orcs of wrath are still totally shoe-horned into the "ugh-me smash" role, and vastly superior to any of the other orcs. That said, here's are four orc subraces I wrote up myself.

Mountain Orcs
This particular humanoid stands a bit over six feet, with a huge, muscular frame. It has particularly crude features, with a snout-like nose and a notably hairy body.

Mountain orcs are widely considered to be the most primitive species of orc currently alive. They are voracious and crude, with unrelenting cruelty being common amongst their ranks. They relish in sensual pleasure and have a violent and warlike nature.

• +4 Strength, -2 Dexterity, -2 Wisdom, -2 Intelligence. Mountain Orcs are immensly powerful, with thick bone frames wrapped tightly in solid muscle, but are clumsy, reckless, and stupid.
• Medium size
• 30 feet base land speed
• +2 racial bonus on saves against fear and disease.
• +4 racial bonus on intimidate checks.
• Darkvision out to 60 feet.
• Light sensitivity.
• Automatic languages: Common, Orc Bonus Langauges: Abyssal, Dwarven, Gnoll, Giant, Goblin, Undercommon.
• Favored Class: Barbarian. Mountain orcs are savage barbarians.

Hill Orcs
This orc stands about 6 and a half feet tall, with a powerful physique, though not to the same extent as a mountain orc. He glares at you with wild eyes, though they shine with intelligence.

Hill orcs are a subrace of orcs that have left their mountainous cavern homes and now typically are found in savannahs or hilly plains. They are typically taller and slightly thinner then Mountain orcs, and with features typically less "Ugly" by human standards. Their lower jaws do not jut so vividly, their noses not quite so snout-like, and their body hair is more sparse by contrast. Hill orcs are considerably more intelligent then Mountain orcs, and have a much more well constructed society. Fighting is still a major aspect of society, but hill orcs prefer strategy and discipline to raw fury and rage. They are less prone to needless acts of violence and cruelty, but still are not above taking what they want through force. Regardless, they hold on honor in high regard and disdain treachery and ambush attacks.

The following are in addition to mountain orc traits, unless noted otherwise.
• +2 Strength, -2 Dexterity, +2 Constitution, -2 Wisdom. These replace the mountain orc's ability modifiers. Hill Orcs are strong and durable, but uncoordinated and have tempers that can get the better of them.
• Increase saves against fear bonus to +3.
• Steel orcs do not have Light sensitivity.
• Decrease intimidate bonus to +2.
• Automatic proficiency with the orc double-bladed axe.
• Favored Class: Fighter. This replaces the mountain orc's favored class.

Forest Orcs
This orc has gray colored skin and long, black hair. Standing just under six feet tall, the creature stands with a slight hunch.

Forest Orcs are a more peaceful variety of orcs, they have given up war for the most part in pursuit of a more shamanistic and spiritual lifestyle. They are far more at peace and calm then other orcish subraces, and even have given up their bias (for the most part) toward elves. Forest orcs have gray skin and yellow or orange eyes, and are notably shorter then other orcs, being just below humans in height.

The following are in addition to mountain orc traits, unless noted otherwise.
• +2 Strength, -2 Dexterity, +2 Wisdom, -2 Intelligence. These replace the mountain orc's ability modifiers. Forest orcs possess notable strength and a certain awareness, but are typically slow and dull witted.
• Low-light vision. This ability replaces darkvision.
• +2 racial bonus on survival, sense motive, and handle animal checks. This replaces the intimidate bonus of mountain orcs.
• Forest orcs do not have light sensitivity.
• Bonus Langauges change to: Elven, Giant, Gnoll, Gnome, and Sylvan
• Favored Class: Druid. This replaces the mountain orc's favored class.

Deep Orcs
It is the tallest orc you've ever seen, standing at roughly 7 1/2 feet tall, the humanoid has dark green skin and glowing blood red eyes. He carries himself with a nobility not found in other orcs.

Deep Orcs are a powerful subrace of orcs living deep within the underdark. Notably more clever then the common mountain orc, and even stronger at that...they are truly a force to be reckoned with. Widely considered the strongest subrace of orcs, they often align themselves with drow or other villainous underdark inhabitants and stand at the forefront of many orc hordes.

The following are in addition to mountain orc traits, unless noted otherwise.
• +6 Strength, -2 Dexterity, -2 Wisdom, +2 Charisma. These replace the mountain orc's ability modifiers. Deep orcs are notably powerful and have an innate confidence, but are rather clumsy and blindingly arrogant.
• Darkvision extends to 120 feet.
• Light Blindness. This trait replaces light sensitivity.
• Saves against fear increase to +4.
• +2 Natural Armor
• Powerful build.
• Bonus feats: Improved Toughness, Great Fortitude
• LA+2.

Variations among half-orcs.

Half-mountain orcs
• +2 Strength, -2 Charisma. Half-mountain orcs are strong, but tend towards being sullen loners.
• Medium Size
• 30 feet base land speed.
• Darkvision out to 60 feet.
• +2 racial bonus on saves against fear.
• +1 racial bonus on saves against disease.
• Half-orcs may select one +2/+2 skill bonus feat at first level.
• Automatic languages: Common, Orc Bonus languages: Any. (Other then secret langauges, such as druidic)
• Favored Class: Any.

Half-Hill orcs
Half-hill orcs have the same abilities as half-mountain orcs, unless noted otherwise.
• +2 Constitution. This replaces the half-mountain orc's ability modifiers. Half-hill orcs aren't as strong as most half-orcs, but are tougher and more socially adept.

Half-Forest orcs
Half-Forest orcs have the same abilities as half-mountain orcs, unless noted otherwise.
• Low-light vision. This replaces darkvision.
• +2 racial bonus on sense motive and handle animal checks.

Half-Deep orcs
Half-Deep orcs have the same abilities as half-mountain orcs, unless noted otherwise.
• +4 Strength. This replaces the half-mountain orc's ability modifiers. Larger and stronger then other half-orcs, half-deep orcs are also more socially prominent then other half-orcs.
• +1 Natural Armor.
• Bonus on saves against fear increases to +3.
• Bonus on saves against disease increases to +2.
• The half-deep orc's bonus feat may extend to any feat, not just a +2/+2 skill bonus feat.
• Bonus feat: Improved Toughness
• LA+1
