Random thought... Is there any viable way to play a skeleton? Or maybe, is there anyway to retain your con score as a skeleton-like or undead-like creature... I know of half vampire, but thats not anywhere near a skeleton.

There's the bone creature template in the Book of Vile Darkness that turns a creature into an undead skeleton creature that retains its intelligence. No con score.

Dang, I lost the simulpost by a matter of seconds.

There's also the Awaken Undead spell.

Awaken undead? Hm, where cn one find that?

And as for the original post, if you want a viable undead, use the skeletal creature template. There is also an item I saw somewhere about a year ago which is just a magical, artificial heart. It grafts itself to undead flesh (although I think bone would be fine) which gives a base CON score of 12 I think.

Downside is, with a skeleton you would be able to very easily see the only organ it has, so no more immunity to sneak attacks. Although if they dont know you are undead (wearing a lot of clothing and armor, etc) I can feasibly see the first sneak attack not doing squat ("what do you mean he has no kidneys?!"), and after that they would be able to either strike for your heart or give up on sneaks altogether.

In the Legends & Lairs series, in the Mythic Races book, there is a playable race of skeletons called The Eleti.

I think there was a class of some sort in one of the books that is based around undead regaining control of there boddies, maybe that would work.
