| Sizzlor09-18-07, 06:38 PM | I'm going to run a one-session joke game wherein all the players and npcs are licensed characters. One of the bosses is going to be Skeletor. I can't decide what race/creature/template to make him. My first impulse was to make him a lich, because he has a skull for a head. But the various He-Man shows never really gave him a lich feel, and his body doesn't look decayed at all (it's pretty buff, actually). Maybe an aberration? What do you guys think? |
| j3st3r09-18-07, 06:49 PM | I'd say lich also.. or death knight :f: |
| Omega_Grey09-18-07, 06:53 PM | I would probably make him be a Warlock Lich. That seems to fit him very well, as he is considered a sorcerer but we never see any real spells, just magic blasts and using his staff. The 'how' of his head has never really been clear cut, and season to season (or series to series) it seems to change. One of the incarnations makes him out to be an evil demon, others simply dont explain it at all. But I think I would go with a lich that has taken surprisingly good care of his body over the years. (Then again, that costume may be all padding, we dont know). Thats my take on it anyhow. |
| Sizzlor09-18-07, 07:03 PM | I agree with the warlock bit. I'm actually going to make him a Eldritch Theurge, so he'll be a sorcerer and a warlock. |
| Rustmonster09-18-07, 07:56 PM | Are we talking about the stop motion type guys here? That would be sweet. |
| JarionSilverblades09-18-07, 11:03 PM | I kinda see him as a Duskblade. |
| imakuni6709-19-07, 12:15 PM | I'd say find some kind of half-undead template and use that. He's a warlock for sure though! |
| Majick09-19-07, 12:30 PM | Yeah Warlock Litch all the way man. Seriously with the amound of crap he throws down he's GOTTA be a warlock. Plus that blast he always does (this is new series of course i am referencing) seems like Eldritch to me. Anyway, my two cents |
| RobbyPants09-19-07, 01:37 PM | [QUOTE=Sizzlor;13828721I can't decide what race/creature/template to make him.[/QUOTE] Well, he's never struck me as undead, even given the skeletal face. You could probably make him a human that has excessive levels of taint (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/campaigns/taint.htm). Even moreso than the Unearthed Arcana/Oriental Adventures version of taint, I'd reccomend using the more detailed version found in Heroes of Horror. I think there are actually some corruption effects that involve losing your face (or a lot of it). I know there's one where you lose your nose. That, or as everyone else has said, just have him be a lich. |

From : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skeletor Filmation animated series: a demon from another dimension...He learned black magic from Hordak. Mike Young Productions animated series: Skeletor was formerly a warlord known as Keldor who trained under Hordak...Keldor agreed to pay whatever price Hordak wished for his life, and Hordak transformed him, stripping the damaged tissues from his skull and dubbing him Skeletor; Keldor's head had been completely stripped of soft tissues, leaving only a floating skull. So Skeletor is a magic fighter(Fighter/Wizard/Eldritch Knigth), born as a human but reincarnated (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/reincarnate.htm) as a faceless blue skinned humanoid(cursed human,a strong half ogre mage (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/ogremage_med.jpg) or a half-fiend (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20060630a) Bebilith (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/demon.htm), or Ice devil (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/alumni/20061212a)). The skull head is just a curse, not a racial trait. OFF: Devilish oversized smurf!!!! |
| Sizzlor09-19-07, 05:50 PM | He had blue skin before his head became a skull in the new show. I think I agree with him being a human with something added afterwards (a template or feats). I'll have to see check that taint stuff... I know of it, but I've never really investigated the mechanics. I definitely agree that at least some warlock needs to be in there. But since he does occasionally do something unique -- he summoned a demon in the old show and fused two bounty hunters together in the new one -- I thought I'd throw some sorcerer in as well, and then just consolidate the two classes into Eldritch Theurge. I'm also looking at Shredder, Mumm-Ra, and Aku (Samurai Jack). I'll probably make some other bosses as well, those are just the ones I've started noodling with. I thought maybe Aku would be a Master Transmogrifist. |

| SiuiS09-19-07, 06:17 PM | Hey, all you' ve got to do for his face is give him an undead head-graft. It's not like you have to be serious, so he could be wearing the head of Vecna. Everything else looks peachy keen, though. |
| JarionSilverblades09-20-07, 04:12 PM | Ok, Ok. I got bored the other day and ended up Watching 4 hours of He-man and the Masters of the Universe. Skeletor is not undead. He eats, drinks, breathes, and is effected my mind-effecting spells. I would have to say he is tainted, but not undead. As for class levels, Sorcerer 20/Fighter5, and he has no familiar, he used the Staff Familiar progression from Dragon #338, to empower his Havoc Staff. But that's just my thoughts on it. |
| Johnny_Angel09-20-07, 04:42 PM | Another option could be that he took some of the feats from the Book of Vile Darkness in which you disfigure yourself in exchange for power. Warlock is a good choice; however, remember that Skeletor actually can fight fairly effectively with melee weapons. He'd most definately have the Hideous Blow ability. On a side note: He-Man was originally intended to be a Conan cartoon based on the original R. Howard books; however, it was decided that Conan's adventures were too graphic and explicit to be a children's show; thus, He-Man was created. |
| lunoc09-20-07, 05:45 PM | id go with warlock for skelator, maybe a variant of a acolyte of the skin shredder: monk, high level and strength heres a thought for a good npc... the koolaid man... i have stats. also the "dark earth setting" on the d20 future boards has tons of that kind of thing. from the armies of darkness to the transformers. |
| Prak, the Mad09-20-07, 11:10 PM | actually, you could use the tomb-tainted feats from Libris Mortis and say the skull head is the price for them... he'd be a warlock for sure though... |

Go Warlock straight. And have the skull thing be a condition of his warlock powers contract. Perhaps he made a contract that gave him extra power beyond a normal warlock (translating to an extra invocation or something) and the cost was his face, which, having high cha, was very very pretty. As for the staff? Have it give the +2 to hit of the warlock's rod, and a +1d6 bonus to damage as a chausubel of fell power. Then make it a +1 unholy/ +1 unholy staff. Then, for feats, give him two weapon fighting, weapon focus staff, and some other stuff...in that most recent series he was kicking ass and taking names even without the magic blasts. At least in the first few episodes. note: up the power of the staff at higher levels of course. But for this build I was assuming he'd be something like level 13 or 14. Also: hideous blow would certainly be something for him to have. |
| Sizzlor09-21-07, 06:21 PM | I really hope you make Aku epic levels. I mean he took over an entire planet... The players will be 12th level, the bosses will be 20th. I'm allowing the 8 level discrepancy since I'm making up a "point system." Players will gain points instead of experience; once a player's score reaches a certain point, he'll get an extra life. So, ideally, the players will have a few lives each by the time they get to the boss. Also, instead of rummaging the bodies of defeated foes for CR-appropriate treasure and equipment, they'll recover health by eating the cherries, turkey, pizza and other miscellaneous foods that mysteriously fall from the NPCs corpes. |
