ok, i had this idea for a homebrew race that i thought might be interesting so here it is.

Spellborn
The spellborn are products of powerful wizards who have attempted to create life. They are not created as slaves or henchmen but rather as fully functional beings capable of intelligent and independant thought. the spellborn are very rare and most spellborn will not encounter another in their lifetime.

Personality
Spellborn who stay with their creators often adopt the personalities of their creators over time, spellborn who have left their creators tend to seek out homes in small villages rather than large cities, they try their best to fit in with those around them.

Physical description
Spellborn share appearance of those who created them, however their skin is often much paler and facial features less defined. A spellborn created by a gnome will have the appearance of a gnome, a spellborn created by a human will have the appearance of a human and so on.

Relations
The spellborn have no relations as a race, but instead relations differ from person to person as spellborn most often attempt to pass as a member of the race they resemble.

language
The spellborn do not have their own language, instead they are created knowing all the languages their master knew. (you automatically gain the languages of the race you represent)

Alignment
most spellborn tend towards lawful.

Religion
Few spellborn take up religion but those who do tend to follow Boccob the god of magic due to their origins.

Racial traits
+2 intelligence
-2 strength

size: spellborn come in various sizes depending on their creator, they gain all the usual bonuses and penalties related to their size class.

low light vision

favored class: sorcerer, wizard

+4 racial bonus to all will saving throws

when spellborn level up they gain new arcane spells as though their caster level were 1 level higher than what it actually is, in addition the amount of spellslots a spellborn has for arcane spells is as thought their caster level was 1 level higher than what it actually is.

once per day spellborn may cast any cantrip spell as though they had memorized it. when the character reaches ninth level may use this ability to cast any spell from the cantrip or first level spell list once per day.

anyway, tell me what you think.
