I have heard of this race, but I don't know what it is or where it is, any help?

It is a MONSTER, not a race.

It is NOT playable.

You can see it on page 187 of the MMII.

Well alot of monsters all playable but thankfully this one is not. I've yet to get a chance to pop one out against players.... but having evil players means they don't have to hunt down such creatures for the greater good of mankind.

They can fight it for...treasure....pleasure, or for the greater good, thus gaining fame, thus gaining advantage to get close to the king and stabb him multiple times in the abdomen.

Its a cool monster though, no doubt about it :)

In the update booklet, it is listed as an ECL 15 creature.

ECL does not equal Playable.

ECL does not equal Playable.

Cannonwise... perhaps not, but the whole idea of D&D is that the gamers can do whatever the DM will allow. If the gaming group is fine with allowing a character to play a Spellweaver then they can. In such a case it is nice to be able to stick as close to the general rules as possible.

I'd like to see the Spellweaver broken down as a playable monster class as I plan on using one as an NPC in an upcoming campaign I am running. I am having major problems converting it over to HeroForge though...

I once made a racial progression for Spellweaver, but it must've been lost because of the gleemax came. The Monster Manual 2 update booklet can be downloaded for free from the following address: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/20030718a The spellweaver update can be found from the page 10. It lists spell weavers as a LA +7 creature.

ECL does not equal Playable.

ECL often means very much that.. Basically everything can be played that has sentience, human-like intelligence, and opposed thumbs or other way to manipulate objects.

Why isn't it playable? I think that the spellweaver would be a very interesting race to play.
