| Ramboses03-30-08, 02:33 AM | I seem to remember a squirrel like race that I think was available as a PC race in one of the books but I can't seem to find it. Ring any bells to anyone? |
| Airos03-30-08, 06:18 AM | Well, about the only thing I can think of off the top of my head is the Anthropomorphic Animals found in Savage Species, but the tables in that book don't provide a squirrel, since that's not one of the animals found in the Monster Manual. You'd need a copy of the book for the template, then apply it to something like this D&D Fight Club (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/fc/20060721a) did have the Skiurid Ninja, but that was only half serious... Finally, there was (http://forums.gleemax.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-304592) a thread of a home brew squirrel race here on the boards, but it's since been moved into the archives. Hope that helps. :D |
| squidyak03-30-08, 10:38 AM | The only squirrel race I can think of was the Kercpa, and they only saw the light of day in a Dragon Magazine article back in the early 90s. It has been recreated at EN World. http://www.enworld.org/cc/converted/view_c.php?CreatureID=875 |
| Doomsought03-30-08, 01:09 PM | you can get an anthropomorphic squirrel out of savage species. |
| Holy_Beholder03-30-08, 03:06 PM | There was something in MMIV or MMV. I think they were chaotic evil though. Real squirrels are. Especially the break and enter through the chimney squrrels(those stole baklava and tore up a bunch of plants) and the half eaten apple volley squirrels(hate those things). Miserable animals. |
| pigknight03-30-08, 05:26 PM | Why does Foamy keep popping into my head while reading this thread? |
| Airos03-30-08, 06:29 PM | you can get an anthropomorphic squirrel out of savage species. Actually, you can't. The template is there, but the squirrel isn't because it's not an animal published in the Monster Manual. There was something in MMIV or MMV. I think they were chaotic evil though. Real squirrels are. Especially the break and enter through the chimney squrrels(those stole baklava and tore up a bunch of plants) and the half eaten apple volley squirrels(hate those things). Miserable animals. That'd be the Skiurid. They're a NE magical beast, so it'd take a DM house rule to allow the anthropomorphic animal template to be applied to them. |
| ciaran03-31-08, 07:57 AM | The Ratatosks appear on page 210 of Expedition to the Demonweb Pits. They aren't listed with stats for making a PC with I'm guessing thats because of the new format of encounters/monsters in the last few modules. Wouldn't be very hard to adapt. |

That does make sense, after all they fight in formation(with apples, and nuts, and volley fire). At least they called them evil, thats definitely accurate. |

RATATOSKS!11!!!111 :D Such a lovely Planescape race! And I don't have that supplement, now I'm going to get it just to see how they were featured in 3e. http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/dx20070417_spotlight_ratatosk.jpg They look good enough at least :) |
| ciaran04-01-08, 05:24 PM | Is it a violation of OGL or anything to come up with PC stats for this race in this forum? |
| QOShea04-13-08, 10:06 PM | Here is what I came up with. It is roughly based off of the Savage Species progression for rats and weasels, but I kept the Kercpa as Tiny creatures. Considering a substitution level that would give them Deflect Arrows since the original writeup in Dragon #214 had them able to dodge two missiles a round. Kercpa Racial Traits • -6 Strength, +4 Dexterity, and -2 Constitution: Kercpa are quick and agile but are tiny and physically weak. • Monstrous Humanoid: Kercpa are virtually indistinguishable from their nonintelligent counterparts. • Size - Tiny: As Tiny creatures, they receive +2 to hit, +2 AC, -8 grapple, +8 on Hide checks, but use smaller weapons than humans and their lifting and carrying capacity is 1/2 the listed amount. They also have no reach. • Base Land Speed 20'; Climb 30’. • Low-Light Vision: Kercpa have the Low-Light vision ability. • Racial Bonuses: Kercpa have a +4 racial bonus to Hide and Move Silently. They have a +8 racial bonus to Climb and Balance. A Kercpa can always take 10 on a Climb check. They also have a +4 racial bonus on Disguise when trying to pose as a normal squirrel. • Automatically use Dexterity for Climb and Jump. • Favored Class: Ranger • Level Adjustment +0 |
