| Perseus_Stoned04-05-07, 09:00 PM | Where do I find such a race? Thank you. |
| Kresalak04-05-07, 09:05 PM | Player's Guide to a Place that Sucks (Faerun) |
| Perseus_Stoned04-05-07, 09:10 PM | Ha ha ha, thanks. |
| Perseus_Stoned04-05-07, 09:14 PM | Actually could you please provide a page number? I just leafed through the most of it and could only find information on human's regions and "lesser versions" of other races. |
| Fencerboy04-05-07, 09:15 PM | Player's Guide to a Place that Sucks (Faerun) Explain this sentiment please! I have seen alot of anti-Realms sentiment going around the boards lately, and I want to know why. Maybe I'll ask on the D&D General... |

It is possible that they are in the Players Guide, but definately the Campaign Setting. Page 18. |

Page 18. Woops, yeah, you're right. Serves me right for not actually checking the book. I could write you an essay on why FR sucks as a game setting, but it's not nearly as fun on these boards since they filter all the fun profanity. |
| Isomer04-05-07, 11:00 PM | I could write you an essay on why FR sucks as a game setting, but it's not nearly as fun on these boards since they filter all the fun profanity. i use a homebrew setting and always have, as a DM i find more freedom in making your own world. But now i'm growing curious about why there's all this hate for FR. You sure you couldn't list just a few of it's short fallings? I'm sure some of it can be made out without crazy high cussingness... :mymy: |
| Yadot04-05-07, 11:17 PM | I'm afraid not:P |
| 3DJutsu04-05-07, 11:27 PM | Explain this sentiment please! I have seen alot of anti-Realms sentiment going around the boards lately, and I want to know why. Maybe I'll ask on the D&D General... I do belive it's due to a certain Dual-Scimitar wielding Drow, not namin' any names here, who single-handedly has apparently turned his entire race into CG dual-scimitar wielding Drow who are hated by the surface dwellers and despised by their own kind, yet strive to protect those who misunderstand them. |

| AMGriffin04-05-07, 11:45 PM | I've run all kinds of Forgotten Realms RPs and I've never really had any You know who Wannabes, so this hatred of him seems very removed for me. |
| Return of the Flumph04-06-07, 12:18 AM | As long as your DM isn't a fanboy who is determined to work Drizzt or Elminster into the plot (which Faerun is amply big enough to avoid) Forgotten Realms is fine. The first game I ever played in was in Forgotten Realms, and it was probably the best campaign I've seen to date. All depends on the DM. |
| The Ubbergeek04-06-07, 01:06 AM | And if Forgotten Goodness sucks, what about Greybeard or Semeron? ;) |
| Aravanus04-06-07, 04:07 AM | And if Forgotten Goodness sucks, what about Greybeard or Semeron? ;) Agreed... Which leaves us back with DragonLance. Yay kender! All right, flaming may begin now. |
| Warforged Goblin04-06-07, 06:46 AM | I'll be honest, I'm only annoyed at FR right now. Mostly due to having enough drow plot shoved up my ass that I coughed up spiders... That's why I like Eberron, no retarded ass sword names like Twinkle or Icingdeath (what, you kill pastry topping?), no "OMG! YOU DON'T WORSHIPS TEH LOLTHZOR? DETH!!!!!11!", and no dark elven plot crammed where I sit. In Eberron, if I want to deal with drow, I go to Xen'drik, not the sub-basement of any tavern... Yes, I realize that this is, at best, a half-hearted and sloppy rant about dark elves in Forgotten Realms, it's early. I like the Realms, it's where I played my first true campaign. But afterwards, all the drow stuff left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I also realize that this is the fault of the DM, not the setting. So, as I close, and hopefully the thread with it, all I have to say is this: Play a ghostwise halfling. Telepathy man, telepathy. |

| Khadmus04-07-07, 07:59 AM | Buy Neverwinter Nights 2. You get a fairly realistic game (although your rate of power gain is too fast if you compare it to some of the neverwinter nine...and the "impossible" and "overpowering" labels are applied too liberally), and the Strongheart Halfling statistics. It's a fairly simple subrace. |
