| Phasma Felis05-14-07, 12:13 AM | Are there any templates available to warforged (i.e., living constructs) that provide regeneration or fast healing? I'm playing a warforged juggernaut in a World's Largest Dungeon game, and even though I brought in some repair potions and wands, I'm having a hard time keeping my HP up without an artificer in the party. For that matter, any relatively cheap (like 4 levels or less) templates that I could take that would be beneficial to a juggernaut? Third-party stuff is fine... |
| JulesCARV05-14-07, 01:29 AM | Are your mental ability scores insufficient for any infusions, spellcasting, psionics, etc? There might be some sort of way of healing with crusader revitalizing strikes, but I'm not sure that works for juggernauts. I don't know. |
| penchant05-14-07, 01:29 AM | most templates are inherent and have to be applied when the character is created. If you are already playing the game, then its an aquired template that you are after. I think that most templates can't be applied to a warforged because of the Living construct thing. Vampire perhaps? nope. Humanoid or Monstrous Humanoid. You may have to work with your DM to craft something or google the boards. |
| runestar05-14-07, 01:32 AM | The troll-blooded feat would have been a perfect complement to a warforged(immunity to fatigue), but it is very difficult to qualify for it(since few games allow flaws).:( There is the half-troll template in fiend folio, but it is somewhat pricey at LA+4, and changes your type to giant. |

Yah, most of the good ones don't work on constructs. On the other hand, I could probably talk the DM into allowing an inherent template that I was otherwise qualified for. (Had an encounter with a friendly God of Constructs recently...) There is a "Transforming Construct" template in Green Ronin's Advanced Bestiary that I'm thinking of trying for. Doesn't help with healing, but it does make me a Transformer. :D |
| calronmoonflower05-14-07, 02:28 AM | Get the draconic template and take the Draconic Aura to get the Vigor aura. You may also convince the wizard to learn some Repair spells. |
| Rerecros05-14-07, 02:34 AM | A warforged juggernaut (immune to non-lethal) with regeneration (treats most attacks as non-lethal) is indestructible. And giving it fast healing is just broken. They tried to fix this in ROE with the improved resiliency feat. |
| runestar05-14-07, 02:44 AM | A warforged juggernaut (immune to non-lethal) with regeneration (treats most attacks as non-lethal) is indestructible. You catch on fast...;) |
| Fallenangel35905-14-07, 10:05 AM | only way to make it worse than that, is the warforge itself being an artificer, who makes 2 rings of elemental invulnerability. One for acid, one for fire. Then having a wizard in the party cast anti magic field, and permancy on it, with extraordinary spell aim avoiding the warforged itself. Its now immune to all damage. Its also in an anti magic field. If the dm won't allow the rings, since they are from the ELH, just get +30 resistance to fire and acid on your composite body (trollblooded takes up the level 1 feat) At this point, you say "screw ac" and you buy yourself tons of wonderous items that make you more mobile, and offensively powerful |
| runestar05-14-07, 10:10 AM | Well, technically, a warforged cannot take the troll-blooded feat as it has toughness as a prerequisite feat and is 1st lv only(IIRC). So only humans or strongheart halflings can conceivably take said feat, unless you allow flaws, or manage to find a class or feature which grants toughness as a bonus 1st lv feat. I don't suppose there is a "ring of fast repair" or something, is there?:embarrass |

The Antimagic Field will also turn off the Rings of Elemental Invulnerability. |
| runestar05-14-07, 10:25 AM | Uh. The Antimagic Field will also turn off the Rings of Elemental Invulnerability. The extraordinary spell aim feat lets you exclude the target. So the artificer gets encased in an AMF, but he himself is not affected by it. :) |

| Khatoblepas05-14-07, 02:14 PM | That's what this power is for. ;) http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/psychicReformation.htm Take Open Minded as your first level feat, and Toughness as your third. At third level, get someone with a psionic scroll of Psychic Reformation. Replace Open Minded with Troll-blooded. You still qualify for it, as you have Toughness and it's filling your first level slot. =) And you can never lose skill ranks, so you lose NOTHING! NOTHING! Well, apart from a few XP points. But regeneration without fatigue is worth it. I wouldn't even try for invincibility. |
| Ramboses05-14-07, 07:55 PM | There arn't any templates that I know of that can be applied to warforged, but if he's LG then he could take a few levels of paladin and get the lay on hands, just a thought |
| MonkeyPaladin05-14-07, 08:12 PM | You could just take leadership and get an artificer cohort. |
| captianhowdy05-14-07, 08:20 PM | well theres always the Incarnate Construct template in Savage Species. Wouldnt be a warforged any more per-se but its better than nothin... |
| Ramboses05-14-07, 08:32 PM | well theres always the Incarnate Construct template in Savage Species. Wouldnt be a warforged any more per-se but its better than nothin... wouldn't they really suck though? |
| Terronus05-14-07, 08:48 PM | The sage answered this topic before (well, not about regeneration and fast healing, but...) Any warforged, being a "Living construct" qualifies for any template that can be applied to a "living creature". |

| AngelDust Anderson05-15-07, 02:53 AM | Just out of interest, where is troll blooded from? |
| runestar05-15-07, 02:58 AM | It is a regional greyhawk feat from a recent issue of dragon. Can't recall the issue offhand though. |
| Phasma Felis05-23-07, 05:37 PM | GLEE GLEE GLEE GLEE GLEE So our intrepid heroes, in the flooded sea-caverns deep beneath the World's Largest Dungeon, just slaughtered a god. A god of madness and destruction in the form of a kraken three or four sizes above Colossal, with a 90' face and reach and a buttload of horrible spells. Great work from everyone involved, and my juggernaut Stone was proud to have (by sheer luck on the dice) done enough damage to him in the first two rounds that he concentrated on pummeling me for a bit while the rest of the party set up the hurt locker with minimal interference. (Mahgohg, God of Madness: "I am Mahgohg. I was, I am, I will be. You cannot kill me, for I am eternal." Stone, Warforged Juggernaut: "ALL FLESH DIES.") So we beat him down to negative 100 or so and the dwarven defender (Baeric "Big Save" Strongarm, goalie for Manchester United) administers the coup de grace with the Mahgohg-killing artifact trident we painstakingly assembled that Imprisons the twitching, not-quite-dead fleshsack deep beneath the earth for all eternity. And as Mahgohg dwindles into a tiny, screaming point and spirals down the drain, all us intrepid heroes find that counting coup on a god gives you gifts. Miraculous gifts. Gifts rolled randomly on a 1d20 table. DM goes around the table telling everybody what they got. Nice stuff, +6 Con here, +10 land speed there, DR 5/evil over there, all of it permanent and innate. And what does my poor hard-of-healing juggernaut pull on his d20 roll? FAST HEALING 2. I squealed like a fangirl. |
| kentonblack05-23-07, 09:22 PM | Epic thread. Serious Business. |

| dunkeykong05-24-07, 12:42 AM | the ONLY templates a 'forged can aquire, by the RAW are half-Fiend, half-Celestial, and Half-Dragon. thats got to be the 12th time ive said that. |
| Warforged Goblin05-24-07, 07:35 AM | As, according to the RAW, most of the RAW were written before the concept of warforged was hatched. My favorite warforged template: Feral :D Claws, fasting healing, fun abilities... Woo-hoo! Although, a reptilian warforged druid named Grrym'Loq is also awesome... |
| fiendish_platypus05-24-07, 07:45 AM | the ONLY templates a 'forged can aquire, by the RAW are half-Fiend, half-Celestial, and Half-Dragon. thats got to be the 12th time ive said that. Not really, because if you get, say, Half-Dragon then you're not a construct anymore, now you're a dragon, wich means you can get other templates. Also, there's more templates in various sourcebooks they can get. |
| penchant05-24-07, 08:39 AM | The problem with the "what template can a warforged have" issue is that warforged are built and not born. Though they have mentioned that the living construct type can have templates, that does not necessarily apply to warforged since their origin is specifically not one of reproduction. Currently they are the only official product that has the living construct type, but creature types are not meant for just a single creature and are generalized in nature. Dragons and outsiders can only mate with creatures that actually have a mating process, and no amount of shapeshifting on their part will change that. |
| runestar05-24-07, 09:01 AM | The half-templates do not necessarily have to come about as a result of cross-breeding either. The "mad mage + crazy experiments" could in theory be used to rationalize just about any creation, however twisted, you can come up with. Half dragon template? The crazy wizard tried infusing his warforged creations with draconic blood and a half-dragon warforged was the result. Fiendish essense = half-fiend template. And so on and so forth.:) |

Even if the warforged in question was polymorphed, I'd argue that its bits wouldn't work, regardless of gender, if and when intercourse occured. Oh sure, when happy-happy-fun-time happened it'd feel good, but they'd be sterile. Now, as for the 'warforged can be built differently' tamplate application, I support it wholeheartedly. Granted, you're not going to see mass-produced ice-element/tauric/half-illithid warforged, but if your campaign calls for one, I say go for it. A few specially built/warped by magic warforged that I used as interesting NPCs were: - Half-Far Spawn Warforged Fighter/Warlock. Regular warforged fighter got caught in the Mourning and wandered out with the template and class levels. - Half-Fiend Warforged. He had a demon bound to a softball-sized Khyber in his chest. - Insectile Warforged. Before Secrets of Xen'drik came out with the scorpion claws, he was a guardian of the drow's. - Reptilian Warforged. Grrym'Loq. See above :) To paraphrase Gygax, you don't need rules to play this game. As the DM you're free to work with whatever you like. If you're playing and want a warforged with a template, talk it over with your DM and have a decent backstory to go with him. Hopefully, he'll go for it. |

It not that much of a stretch if you think of you warforged build into these template. Who's to say an artificer can't make a warforged to appear like a dragon-man and applie magic to give him the proper abilities so as to be an actual half-dragon. Think way of thinking offers up a lot of potential if you're a fan of a certine capcom game... A warforged (renegade master for that more human look) with a brilliant energy shocking burst armbow or maybe just a few levels in warlock, use metals of a blueish hue or just paint yourself blue (don't forget a nice shiny red iron defender!). I know that last part is a touch of topic, but it made me giggle. |

| Explosive_Zombie05-24-07, 11:16 AM | Get yourself a spring loaded packmate... call him Eddie! Hang out with you warforged swordsage buddy... who happens to have a brilliant energy saber! Okay... I've got to stop now before I go and actually make this! |
| Lionhearted05-24-07, 11:27 AM | Well the most famous renegde mastermaker also use a Brilliant energy longsword, Although he favours black and somehow he learned "telekinetic maneuver: Chokehold" |

| Stabby McStaberson05-26-07, 12:15 AM | If you were to put a template on a warforged, like half-dragon, could you then stack another template on that since it is then a Dragon, like draco-lich for an example? |

Hmm... I am new at this, so I can't tell for sure... But I think that constructs and undead can't change their type anymore... Even if they get the template/PrC os Class change etc. they remain the same type of being they were before... Something like... A warforged monk don't becomes an outsider at level 20... But still gets the beneficts... Something like that.... There is somewhere a graphic with a pyramid of templates that have priority over others... |
| Kurashu07-21-07, 11:45 PM | It's in savage species. I believe Outsiders, Constructs and Undead are at the top of the list. |
| Flay Crimsonwind07-22-07, 03:06 PM | Not a template, but if you're going a combat route, Fast healing's acquired by Combat Vigor. It requires combat focus, but if you take those two and a third combat feat, you get Fast healing 4 as long as you're focused, which is for, like, 10+ rounds every encounter. |
