Eons ago the mindflayers enslaved a race which name has been lost through the ages, these humanoids served the illithids for generations. It is believed these slaves were originally humans transformed through selective breeding. Eventually, these slaves developed mental resistance to their masters' mind control and, under the guidanced of their leader Gith, revolted; thus did the greatest empire the universe ever saw fall.

Gith, however, was not satisfied with the destruction of the illithids alone, and sought to spread the war to any race that could potentially enslave her people again. She was opposed in this endeavour by the followers Zerthimon, who believed that such a path would lead their people to corruption and ruin. Thus, at the Pronouncement of Two Skies, the gith race factionilised into the githyanki and the githzerai, the latter of whom would found their own domain in Limbo. The githyanki hate the githerzai because their betrayal allowed the surviving illithids to retreat to isolated subterranean strongholds; the two races have been at war ever since.

We're trying to stat out the orginal gith's a.k.a. the Forerunners

What we do know
* Natural psionic (Psi-likes, Bonus psp)
* Resistance against psionics (Power resistance)
* Bonus to dexterity (Both the gith have bonus to dexterity) due to their gaunt long limbs
* darkvison 60ft.
* Humanoid (extraplanar) as they are native to the planet of Pharagos

Suggested Features:
*+4 Dexterity, +2 Constitution, +2 Wisdom. Strong in both body and mind, the Illithid forged a race more powerful then they thought.
* base speed 30 ft
*Humanoid (extraplanar)
*Psi-like abilities:
1st: Psionic daze, far hand, catfall 3/day
3rd: Any non restricted 2nd level power of the Psion/wilder list 3/day
6th: Psionic dimension door 3/day
9th: Any non restricted 4th level power of the Psion/wilder list 3/day
11th: Psionic Planeshift 1/day
(caster level equal to their FULL hitdice, the gith had great varied talents that narrowed down with the generations)
*Power resistance equal to 10 + hitdice
*Darkvision 60 ft
*Naturally psionic. A Gith is flooded with psionic power as a result of their close proximity to their Mindflayer masters and their own nurturing of that talent, as a result all 1st level Gith receive 5 bonus power points.
* Favored class: Any manifester class (divine mind, argent, psion, erudite, psychic warrior, wilder, lurk, psychic rogue, soulknife)
* LA +3

Im planning on hosting a campaign during the revolt but have no idea how to stat out the race, try to put it at LA +2 (as its not likely that the Gith gone more powerful since the seperation) As all the players will be forerunners they wont notice the difference anyway.

*Humanoid

As for natural psionic abilities, both the Githyanki and the Githzerai have daze at 3/day, so the forerunners should have that as well (useful against the other thralls of the Mindflayers). They also have plane shift, something that they forerunners should have (they had to hunt down the Mindflayers somehow). Other then that it is really up in the air. I would probably give them something like this

Gith
--Humanoid (Extraplanar)
-- +4 Dexterity, +2 Constitution, +2 Wisdom. Strong in both body and mind, the Illithid forged a race more powerful then they thought.
-- Medium Size
--Base land speed of 30 feet.
--Darkvision out to 60 feet.
--Naturally psionic. A Gith is flooded with psionic power as a result of their close proximity to their Mindflayer masters and their own nurturing of that talent, as a result all 1st level Gith receive 5 bonus power points.
--Psionics: A Gith is flooded with natural psionic talent and as such can manifest a certain number of powers, based on their hit dice as follows
3/day, Daze, feather fall, mage hand, shatter. A gith of 3 hit dice or more can use blur 3/day, one of 6 hit dice can use dimension door 3/day, and one of 9 hit dice or more can use telekinesis 3/day and plane shift 1/day.
--Power Resistance equal to their hit dice + 10.
Automatic Languages: Gith. Bonus Languages: Undercommon, Common, Infernal, Abyssal.
Favored Class: Psion.
Level Adjustment: +3

But thats just a quick take, it obviously is nothing more then a mesh of the two races with a little improvement (mostly in the Power Resistance). So feel free to do with it what you will.

Yes they should definatly have daze and planeshift, as both races retain these abilities. however the other is discarded as its not likely the githzerai has forgotten all their gifts, Power resistance would probably still be 5+ CL as eons of fighting the illithids havent weakened their abilities.

Well the githyanki and the githzerai dont really go out and kill massive amounts of Mindflayers anymore, there arent enough of them. So I figured that at their height they were fairly resistant to psionics, and the power resistance that they have isnt that good since it only adds in hit dice and doesnt count the +3 level adjustment. So something their level has only a 35% chance to not succeed. Also you have to consider that at their height the Mindflayers were probably much more powerful as well.

Point taken.. and since they we're able to wrest the mental dominance they would have probably been at their peak right then

Exactly, that just what I was thinking. Then again like I said, take it and do with it what you will. I might even go so far as to give them a +2 to intelligence as well to help out with the psion levels some more, but thats just me.

The Powerpoint boost does more than enough for that.

My thought is try to make it a +2 LA instead of +3, since both Githyanki and Githzerai are +2. It seems to me that the race would not have gotten weaker since the split, just more specialized.

However, looking at the stats you have already, I'm not sure what to cut to make it a +2.

Well, in practice they have.
they are no longer ruthlessly bred for capability by their Illithid overlords, thus making room for some love and "humanity" have made them weaker

* Humanoid (extraplanar) as they are native to the planet of Pharagos
QUOTE]

I disagree with this. Even though they are native to an alien world, as far as I know all planets are still in the Prime Material Plane. I thiink they should just be Humanoid (Gith). I think the Githyanki and Githzerai became extraplanar only after cenuries/millenia living in the Astral/Limbo.
