a :cookie: to the first person to guess where i got the pic.

The Frojai are a small frog like people. Building villages in the forests and swamps they are natural enemies with the trolls that live there. They stand for 3 to 4 feet high, weigh from 50 to 90 pounds.

The Frojai

*-2 Str, +4 dex, +2 Wis. Frojai are agile and wise, but their size makes them weaker than most species.

*Humanoid(aquatic)

*Small sized.

*30' Movement

*20' Climb speed

*Low light vision.

*Weapon Proficiency with Kukri's and Bolas.

*+2 Fort. saves Vs poison.

* +2 Racial bonus to Hide and Move Silently checks.

*+4 Racial bonus to jump and Climb checks. All jumps are treated as having a running start.

+1 to Attack bonus Vs. Trolls and +4 to AC Vs. Trolls.

+1 Level Adjustment.

*Favored Class: Ranger

This is a rework of another race i found, but most of it was retooled.

Any suggestions?

Chrono Crusade
Fafnir

Chrono Trigger, you mean. I just knew who was in the pic even before clicking on the thread.

Reminds me of the Grippli in Dragon Magazine #324, especially the Bolas proficiency.

And the winner of this :cookie: is Fafnir!!! Wooooo!!!! haha, like anyone could find a better pic anyway lol

I was looking over the stuff at crystal keep and saw the stats for the Grippli. I thought i would do a take on it and it turned out like this, i think i might be using them somehow in my home brew campaign.

stats wise what do you think, seem balanced?

I think they seemed balance, though I would put favored class to fighter, yes I have played chrono trigger(who hasn't?), and frog seems more fighter like then ranger.

Frog was a paladin.

2 things.

The amphibious special quality is needed so they can breath air.

Also a swim speed makes more sense that a climb speed.

Wasn't he more of a knight, but he did have healing spells on the other hand...

Anywho, I currently have two types of these guys, theres these called the Villitry Frogai, who are tree frog like, then theres another cousin of these guys called the Villishor Frogai, who are bullfrog like.

Here are the stats for the Villishor.

The Frojai (Villishor)

*-2 Str, +2 Dex, +2 Con, +2 Wis. These Frojai are not as quick as there cousins, but are more built for combat.

*Humanoid(aquatic)

*Small sized.

*20' Movement

*30' swim speed

*Low light vision.

*Weapon Proficiency with Trident's and Bolas.

*+2 Fort. saves Vs poison.

* +2 Racial bonus to Hide and Move Silently checks.

*+4 Racial bonus to Jump and Swim checks. All jumps are treated as having a running start.

+1 to Attack bonus Vs. Trolls and +4 to AC Vs. Trolls.

+1 Level Adjustment.

*Favored Class: Fighter

Im not sure what subtype to make them then, cuz they cant breath underwater... so any suggestions???

Also, would is be to much for the +1 Level adjustment to give them the +8 Climb/Swim and let them take ten on those check?

A climb or swim speed will do that so it is there already, unless you want to give them the one that they do not have a movement for. Instead you could have it always be a class skill for them and give the mastery (can always take 10) for that skill.

which is better, the skill mastery or the movement speed?

Movement as it allows to take 10 like skill mastery and gives a bonus on the check.

hmm... does anything say that anywhere?

It seems no definition of the movement speeds exist in the glossaries and it isn't listed in the index of any book.

I found a reference on pages 15-16 of Oriental Adventures that says so. If you look through the Monster Manuel you will see that a standard racial bonus of +8 applies creatures with climb and swim speeds as well as the ability to take 10 even when threatened or distracted.

well, ok then, i'll go with you an that, i'll just write them up with both the movement speeds and the mastery. Also i think they can be amphibious and not need the special ability if i add something saying that they breath air in the text about them, that should be it for that portion. ohh, and a hold breath ability... hmmm, will that be to much? two movement speeds, mastery on a skill, all running jumps AND hold breath...

does that seem balanced? for just a +1 i mean
