HALF ABOLETH
Tough many explainations for how the half-aboleth has come into existance could be given. None are truths, for the half-aboleth is as much a mystery to scholars and mages as they are to themselves. Born out of mysterious circumstances. They are creatures who by some genetic ancestory, are connected rather by magic or blood (though how is a better question) to the most terrible of abberitions amongst the sea dwellers, the aboleths.

Apperance
Their are few ways to tell a Half-Aboleth from another person. With passing age the skin grows a blue tint, and slowly becomes purely blue. Their blood and skin is often cold, and with the passing years, they grow webbed feet and hands, sometimes always having webbed hands or feet. With the first half of the creature's natural life, it rarely shows sign of being Half-Aboleth, but as it reaches it's later years those who are of the aboleth blood grow to resemble them more and more taking on aquatic physical features. They often grow tentacles from various locations, as the mixed blood is not a stable thing and unusual mutations often take place in the skin.

CREATING A HALF ABOLETH
"Half Aboleth" is an inherited template that can be added to any living corporeal creature (referred here after as the base creature).

Size and Type: The creature’s type changes to abberition. Do not recalculate Hit Dice, base attack bonus, or saves. Size is unchanged. Half-aboleths are normally more the base race then aboleth.

Speed: A half-aboleth has a 60ft. swim speed

Armor Class: Natural armor improves by + 1 (this stacks with any natural armor bonus the base creature has).

Attack: A half-aboleth has two tentacle attacks. If the base creature can use weapons, the half-aboleth retains this ability. A half-aboleth fighting without weapons uses a tentacle when making an attack action. When it has a weapon, it usually uses the weapon instead.

Full Attack: A half-aboleth fighting without weapons uses both tentacles when making a full attack. If armed with a weapon, it usually uses the weapon as its primary attack.

Damage: Half-aboleths have tentacle attacks. If the base creature does not have this attack form, use the damage values in the table below. Otherwise, use the values below or the base creature’s damage values, whichever are greater.

Fine 1
Diminutive 1d2
Small 1d3
Medium 1d4
Large 1d6
Huge 1d8
Gargantuan 2d6
Colossal 3d6

Special Attacks: A half-aboleth retains all the special attacks of the base creature. A half-aboleth also gains the fallowing special attacks.

Enslave (Su): Three times per day, a half aboleth can attempt to enslave any one living creature within 30 feet. The target must succeed a Will save or be affected as though by a dominate person spell . An enslaved creature obeys the half-aboleth's telepathic commands until freed by a remove curse, and can attempt a new Will save every 24 hours to break free. The control is also broken if the half-aboleth dies or travels more than 1 mile from it's slave. (DC 10 + 1/2 half-aboleth’s racial HD + half-aboleths Cha modifier)

Psionic-Like Abilities: A half-aboleth with an Intelligence or Wisdom score of 8 or higher has psionic-like abilities depending on its Hit Dice, as indicated on the table below. The abilities are cumulative. All abilities are usable three times per day. Caster level equals the creature’s HD, and the save DC is Charisma-based.

1-3 Hypnotic Pattern
4-6 Illusory Wall
7-9 Mirage Arcana
10-12 Persistent Image
13-15 Programmed Image
15-18 Project Image
19-20 Veil

Special Qualities:

Darkvision out to 60ft.

Abilities Increase from the base creature as follows: Str +4, Con +2, Int +4, Wis + 4 Cha +2.

Skills A half-aboleth gains skill points as an abberition and has skill points equal to (2 + Int) x (HD + 3). Do not include Hit Dice from class levels in this calculation - the half-aboleth gains abberition skill points only for its racial Hit Dice, and gains the normal amount of skill points for its class levels. Treat skills from the base creature’s list as class skills, and other skills as cross-class. It automatically has all knowledge skills as class skills, and + 8 natural bonus to swim.

Challenge Rating: HD 4 or less, as base creature +2; HD 5 to 10, as base creature +3; HD 11 or more, as base creature +4.

Alignment: usually evil (any).

Level Adjustment: + 5.

Given the way aboleth reproduce, this fails in a narrative sense. There are no male aboleth, they're all herms. The egg/sperm interaction takes place well outside the body anyway. They're no good for sating anyone's lust, degenerate or otherwise.

Your mechanical work is sloppy. If they have four tentacles and they use both to full attack, do they have four, or do they have two? Why bother giving flat DCs for the special attacks and then call the attacks Charisma-based (that only makes sense if the flat DCs are for a given sample creature which has not been presented here). None of their "Psyonic" (that's spelled "Psionic" btw) spell-like abilities are usable a mere 1/day, why is that even mentioned?

I'm sure I've missed some that others will catch. *wanders off for a much-needed coffee*

I didn't know they reproduced that way. I was sort of basing the back story on something about the deep ones I pulled out of the Necronomicon: The wanderings of Alhazred. I'll have to return to it.

Sorry about my mechanical work. I originally was going with two tentacles, then debated with four, and moved back and forth with the idea. I guess I over looked it (and thank you for pointing out the spelling error. When I go to fix this template I'll fix the spelling error). I'll also go ahead and fix the other stuff. This is my first attempt making a template (and I was basing it off another template) so I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing, but I'm deffinitly going to go back over it.

Thank you for the currections.

*Shudder*
Some "half-races" just shouldn't be. I'm not sure how the mechanics work () but these guys would be a good nemesis for an underwater campaign.

You'd just have to adjust the fluff for aboleths a bit. (Like lack of mucus cloud, for example. Yuck).
