| Razieliffied06-26-07, 12:56 AM | I believe you are searching for the 'Feature Point System' by 'Yabba the what'. I don't have a link on-hand, but knowing the corrent name and author should help you in your search. |

| Tinari06-26-07, 01:25 AM | Aye! Thanks a bunches. I wasn't sure who did it or what it was called, so searching was akin to "LA breakdown guide" and whatnot. I was having a talk with a friend that a racial combination that gave +2 str, +2 con, +2 wis, +4 Cha was really good, but kind of stuck between +1 and +2 when broken down piece by piece. Given it has no drawbacks except losing a class level, it'd be hard pressed to not take that race, from a mechanical standpoint. >.> |

For the most part, level adjustment hurts in early game, and doesn't get much better in late game. From a mechanical standpoint, it's almost always better to avoid LA entirely. |
| Tinari06-26-07, 01:59 AM | Ironically, after running the number for all their bonuses and stuff, it turns out they fall within the "balanced scale" of that Feature Point system. So yes, I agree with you and retract my statement. |
| Rerecros06-26-07, 02:20 AM | This system is stilled flawed, especially in regards to ability bonuses. If you break down dex for example Dexterity Ranged attack rolls. [3 FP] Armor Class. [4 FP] Reflex saving throws [2 FP] Balance, Escape Artist, Hide, Move Silently, Open Lock, Ride, Sleight of Hand, Tumble, and Use Rope checks. [4.5 FP] So +1 dexterity worth 4 FP, broken down is worth 13.5 FP Also, stacking attack bonuses increase costs. http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=11338405#post11338405 Not to mention that your race of all ability bonuses would endure arbitrary minmaxing penalties for not have the right balance of large and small bonuses. |
