| malykoth06-17-07, 07:05 PM | Based this humanoid (human) variant on the character of Elphaba, from the musical "Wicked". It's not meant to be an exact recreation of the character, just heavily inspired by her... The Wic'ed A strange race of emerald-skinned humans...masters of arcane magic and wizardly might. These folk are known for being taciturn and anti-social, and often are persecuted for their odd appearance, strange magic, and perceived "evil nature". Many are solitary, exhibiting a touch of paranoia. Even those who are raised in a loving, accepting environment are often distant, shy, or awkward around others. Wic'eds are the result of a human female drinking a tainted "elixer of love" formula. This particular recipe, though only deviating from the standard formula by a little, produces an oddly-colored dark green variant. The "green exiler" works in the normal fashion, but any pregnancy that results during the duration of the effect leads to the birth of a wic'ed. If no pregnancy occurs, then no other appreciable side effects result. Wic'eds do breed true, should one mate with another, but there are still so few that there are no known wic'ed couples as of yet. Children with one wic'ed parent might have green eyes or a slight inclination for magic, but will be treated as normal humans (half-elves, etc.) otherwise. Personality: As mentioned above, wic'ed often have trouble dealing with purely social situations. This can be exhibited in many different ways; some are gruff and rude, some shy and bookish, some have an air of unbalanced dementia. Few enjoy crowds or being the center of attention. They have keen minds, though, and often excel at academic pursuits. Physical Description: Wic'ed resemble normal humans of their parents' race and culture...with a single, glaring difference...all pigmentation is tinged a shade of green, as if they had been soaked in a vat of green dye. They do exhibit various shades of green, which can vary nearly as much as any normal human pigmentation. Though they still carry their parents' features, these same features also tend to become a bit sharper, often with high cheekbones, sharp jaw-lines, and angular noses. Relations: Similar to tieflings, in most regards. Indeed, wic'ed seem to even favor dealing with tieflings over humans, when they find themselves needing to deal with others. They generally perfer a policy of isolation, though some do take up a more adventurous lifestyle. Alignment: Sadly, there does seem to be a majority of Evil wic'ed, though this is not necessarily a racial inclination. Wic'ed are no more predisposed to be Evil as any normal human. Unfortunatley, like tieflings, they often find themselves driven to a circumstance that leads to Evil, despite their own individual inclinations. Left to their own devices, they would tend to follow a Neutral alignment. Wic'ed Lands: There are no wic'ed nations, or even communities to speak of. Most set up in hard to reach areas, picking wastelands or forbidding wilds to keep others at bay. Language: Wic'ed speak Common and have an intuitive understanding of Draconic from birth. This could be due to a few dragon-based ingredients in the green elixer. Names: Wic'ed are given names appropriate for the area and society in which they were raised. Some prefer to take new names, or even simply refer to themselves by a title or pseudonym. Adventurers: Wic'ed don't always settle for solitude and books. Some crave adventure and acceptance, others only adventure for more arcane knowledge or for rare ingredients and components. They are often inclined to dislike righteous, lawful types, but then again they also tend to be wary of everyone. Once one makes a friend, though, they can be just as open and caring as anyone else. Wic'ed Racial Traits: Attribute Adjustments: +2 Intelligence, -2 Charisma: Wic'ed have sharp minds, but dull social skills. Humanoid (human): Wic'ed are humanoid creatures with the human subtype. Medium: As Medium creatures, wic'ed have no special bonuses or penalties due to size. Wic'ed base land speed is 30 feet. Prestidigitation (Su): Three times per day, a wic'ed can create an effect identical to a prestidigitation spell, with a caster level equal to the wic'ed's character level. Racial Skills: +2 racial bonus on Concentration and Spellcraft checks: Wic'ed are naturally drawn to these two skills. They must still purchase at least one rank in Spellcraft to gain the benefit of this bonus with that skill. Skill Bonus: As a normal human; 4 extra skill points at 1st level and 1 extra skill point at each additional level. Automatic Languages: Common and Draconic. Bonus Languages: Auran, Aquan, Ignan, Sylvan and Terran. Favored Class: Wizard (alternate: Warlock) Level adjustment +1. |
| DM Denubis06-17-07, 07:32 PM | Definitely not worth the LA +1. At all. If a Whisper Gnome is LA +0, so is this. |
| Rerecros06-17-07, 07:37 PM | Good job. these are LA +0 though any conections to green hags in the MM? |
| malykoth06-17-07, 08:05 PM | Definitely not worth the LA +1. At all. If a Whisper Gnome is LA +0, so is this. Well, I'm very uneasy giving any race that grants a bonus to Int, Wis or Cha a +0 LA. Personally, RAW or not, I wouldn't allow the whisper gnome unless the player took a +1 LA with it...but perhaps it is a tad too weak, and a slight buff wouldn't be out of place. I seem to make my stuff a bit underpowered for some reason. Probably due to years of fighting off munchkins and power gamers. How about if the prestidigitation ability were at will, and they gained detect magic at will as well? Also, their caster level always equals their character level. any conections to green hags in the MM? Not really, but I'm sure that many slander them in that way. Gossip about them would probably frequently mistake them for green hags. |
| AZNsupermarket06-18-07, 01:00 AM | give them an additional -2 penalty to strength and I would be more than comfortable calling them LA +0. EDIT: An additional penalty to either dex or con would work, although they would be a tad under-powered. An additional penalty to wisdom may work, but would probably leave them a tad over-powered. |
