Retaliator 04-26-07, 02:10 PM	... just a quick question. I'm creating a Rogue 1 Drow character, designed for a Forgotten Realms Campaign. How many feats do I get? If I DMed - I'd give the player the second feat for the 3rd ECL... but the DM disagrees. Who's right?

You would get your first level bonus feat, but not your third level feat (until your PC gains his 3rd class level). However, you have the XP total of a 3rd level character, as well as the treasure of a 3rd level character.
crazy_monkey1956 04-26-07, 02:26 PM	Level Adjustment, in this case +2 for being Drow, factors into the character Effective Character Level (Level Adjustment + total Class Levels + racial HD if any) to determine the amount of XP the character needs to advance and the amount of XP the character gains in comparison to the rest of the party. Feats are determined by the character's Character Level or total HD if the character has racial HD (that is, HD gained from class levels + racial HD). So, in other words, your DM is right. As a first level character with a +2 level adjustment, your character has one feat. You'll gain a second feat at 3rd level, 5th effective character level overall. If that doesn't sit well with you, Unearthed Arcana includes a variant for "buying" off level adjustment. In addition, this website had a series of articles called Savage Progressions, which can be found in the article archive section. One of the articles included a level progression for Drow, so that you could play one from 1st level. Hope this helps. Quentin
jamesnero 04-26-07, 02:57 PM	LA at lower levels can be more a hindrance than a help to that end may I recomend the lesser drow in the players guide to faerun no LA at all. Just a thought really. :D
Retaliator 04-26-07, 03:16 PM	Damn. :( That puts me in a real lowsy position when it comes to feats... Any suggestions? Btw. I'm been given a Pendant of Undetectable alignment and a Hat of disguise, since I'm the only evil PC he plans having (neutral evil, he needs it that way for the plot). Any suggestions?
Shadowhowler 04-26-07, 04:17 PM	Not really... LA adjustment is tough. LA of 2 of more is really tough. At least your not a caster. :) If you just NEED more feats, you can see if your DM will let you take some Flaws (Unearthed Arcana has a system for flaws granting you feats) to get them... thats about it.
