Jprostovich 06-01-07, 01:22 PM	I'm planning a campaign world that has a strong Fey background or history. Does anyone know of any books that would provide helpful with the Fey? That is to say, is there any official Dungeons and Dragons products that handle in detail the fey as a race? Your help is most appreciated
Naderion 06-01-07, 01:38 PM	Unfortunately, the answer is: No. There are no official D&D books on this topic and I know only of one d20 book on it, but I looked into it and it doesn't match with anything in the monster manuals.

kouryuu_the_leviathan 06-01-07, 07:03 PM	Not sure if it might be what you're looking for, but in Races of the Wild there is a +0 LA race that is of the fey type. The book itself doesn't go into too much detail on the fey, but the race in question, called he Killoren, might be a good benchmark for making other non-LA fey races. While I can't go into too much detail the basics of the race are as follows. Most of their static bonuses are similar to an elves. They also have "Cold-iron anathema" or something like that where they take an attack penalty for using a cold-iron weapon. The last thing they get is every morning they can meditate for an hour and manifest a different aspect of nature. The sage les you be really good at knowledge nature, hunter gives you bonuses to hide and move silently and the like, and finally destroyer gives you a smite attack thats usable against humanoids, constructs and other unnatural things a few times per day. Dead_Weasel 06-02-07, 11:28 PM	There are no WotC books with Fey creatures as a focus. Yadot has already linked you to the Fey Feature archive. The best thing I can honestly recommend is to read the mythology (http://pantheon.org/) surrounding fey creatures - which is not limited to those possessing the Fey type. Although I personally find Celtic mythology the most interesting, and it is certainly the source of many of D&D's fey standbys, virtually every culture possesses creatures that, translated into D&D, would find themselves with a Fey label. Failing that, some investigation into White Wolf's Changeling: the Dreaming RPG (which I presume is now discontinued) could also prove to be useful. Here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/lists/monsters&tablefilter=fey&tablesort=1) is a list of fey creatures in 3.x WotC sources - the ones that have made it to the Consolidated Lists, anyway.

Nived 06-03-07, 04:31 AM	Yes there is one product that goes into some detail on fey as a type. Heroes of Horror. Sure they mean the good ol' fashion Grimm's style Fairy Tale steal your soul, make you promise away your first born, eat children, steal children, just plain kill children, bath in the blood of children.... etc... fey. If you want hippy nature spirit fey I'd stay clear of that one.
Evil DM Mk3 06-03-07, 04:43 AM	Insipration? Fairy tales, Discworld, Cletic mythology. Basicly Fey are alien, as alien as abberations. they just don't look it. Why are they so alien? Their mindset. Age, time, suffering, pain, love, lust, death, all these things are the same to them. They are experiance. To the fey nothing is perminet. They lack empathy, they cannot understand other creatures in any way, they see teh world as themsleves and everythign else, such a stark dividing line. This article on wikipedia is about discworld elves (who are the equivelant of faries in Discworld), it is a bit TOO far for Fey in general (unless you want them as the primary villains of a setting, done that, twas awsome), but a useful area for inspiration. OhMaahi 06-03-07, 09:06 AM	The fiend folio contains the feytouched race and the half fey template. The feytouched have a LA+1 and the half fey is +2.
