I'm trying to figure out if, and at what point, I can get a Thrall (psionic Cohort of my class level -1) that acts as my mount out of combat, while still useful during combat. Preferrence given to core/published, but if you have made/seen a balanced option, I'm open to suggestions. My DM has told me to show him any ideas and he'll consider them. For example, a centaur could act as a mount and still fight in combat. However, it has 4 racial HD and a +2 LA, making it an ECL 6 and ineligible at the point that I gain the ability to have a Thrall. Thanks |

He forever loses acces to Wild shape, each and every variant of it, and his animal companion... Though if you start him as an Orc you'll get +8 str in wild shape (+4 racial, +4 from the shifting), for a total of 23 strenght, if you use elite array that is. He can still cast spells when in humanoid form, still has all proficiencies, and generally... is quite doable since his LA is +0 ^^ The shapechange variant for the druid can be found in the Player's handbook II |

I don't have access to PHBII, nor is a druid going to be permitted for this setup. The Thrall is going to have to be psionic (either naturally, via a feat, or as a result of class levels) and I'm planning on using a psionic class anyway. Thanks again! |
