| novawolf25802-26-07, 12:54 AM | I'm currently in an Underdark game, and my Drow rogue bit the dust. I'm thinking of going totally different for a character by playing a Tibbit (the catweres from Dragon Compendium). I'd like other people's opinions of this race and a suggestion for a class to play. My group consits of a Paladin of Tyranny, a Fighter, a Priestess, and another Rogue. I was thinking of playing a psion, because who's going to suspect that the cat in the corner can MELT YOUR BRAIN!! :evillaugh Any suggestions would be appreciated, our next session is on Saturday night. |
| enygmatic_me02-26-07, 01:09 AM | Tibbits can make some really great characters. Since you have already played a rogue that is probably something you want to avoid which is a bit of a shame as they make great rogues. Other ideas: Ranger. Can't go wrong with a house cat that gains TWF and Favored Enemies. Spellthief, it is like the rogue in a lot of ways so you might get comparisons, but their is something fun about a house cat that sneak attacks an enemy wizard and steals their Finger of Death spell. Warlock, just because it is a funny idea for you to have a cat familiar and all the blasts and other abilities. |
| zook1shoe66602-26-07, 09:55 AM | mmm.... *reminiscing about Shadowpaw* check into the Improved Initiative and that feat that grants Int to initiative!!! i had at 13th level, a +20 initiative. i ALWAYS went first ;). the tibbit makes the PERFECT rogue ;), but enygmatic_me brings up a few classes that would make thinks interesting. i like the ranger idea alot. |
| Richmud02-26-07, 10:04 AM | I say go psion, if you make the check to hide your displays no one will suspect the cute and cuddle little kitten of launching mind thrusts and energy missiles at them. Its almost as good as being reincarnated as a butterfly :D |
| Jopustopin08-07-07, 11:27 PM | Anyone know the starting ages and max age of a Tibbit? Maybe I'm blind but I can't find it anywhere. (for example the dragon magazine compendium volume I) |

| Jopustopin08-07-07, 11:47 PM | haha, um... oh right. Who reads these things from the beginning? Thanks man I owe you one. As long as I owe you one, you'll never not have one owed to you. :) |
| Manyfist08-07-07, 11:47 PM | I thought it be a funny idea to play a Tibbit Swordsage/monk with Tiger claw manuevers and weapon finesse for natural weapons. Sure a cat can kill a commoner, however can a cat kill an entire Drow surface raid? I can see it now... the Drow attack and all they see are a few cats. Then all sudden the cats attack, bitting, slashing, and throwing some nasty kung-fu moves. The surviving members that managed to live and return would never tell they were beaten by a bunch of house cats. Edit: I had a Tibbit Psion (telepath) written up named Blue (because of his blue fur, I know real original) and the way I imagined him would be a LE tyrant. He doesn't do any flashy powers, instead he uses a lot of charms, and compulsions. He would charm several humanoids or dominate them at higher level, then set them up as a distraction or fodder. |
| Jopustopin08-07-07, 11:54 PM | Haha that's hilarious. Here kitty kitty... |
| bhu08-08-07, 02:01 AM | Well...if you dont mind trying homebrew classes, peek at the Cat Burglar in my sig. I have Tibbit Racial Substitution levels and a Tibbit PrC for it too (and 1 more PrC coming). |
| Evilclone08-08-07, 04:42 AM | I love cats and this race is really good. I think the most beautiful concept is to go with Psion/Wilder, maybe Wilder due to the chaotic / carefree nature of the race. Stay in the cute cat form apparently sleeping while manifesting powers is really great :D Ehi, kittyyyyy *dominate* ahahahah :P Your group is assaulted, no one will attack you since you're only a cat, then you start to control minds and so on :D |
| radkins08-08-07, 09:31 AM | My tibbit beguiler was one of the most fun characters I have ever played. Beguiler/wizard/ultimate magus would be a fun tibbit as well. |
| BlackHalfDragon08-08-07, 05:08 PM | Warlock, just because it is a funny idea for you to have a cat familiar and all the blasts and other abilities. If you hump your cat familiar is it self gratification as you are empathically linked ? |
| cjabel08-08-07, 05:27 PM | I am trying to create a character for an epic level game, and I wanted to play a Tibbet, but I can't find my Dragon Compendium. Is there any way that I can get the info on the tibbit I need online? I'm looking for racial abilities, stats, etc. Any help would be awesome! |

| AegriSomniaPress08-08-07, 06:38 PM | Me and another player made two fun characters. He was a wicked sweet close combat monk who played off as a sorcerer, I was gonna play a magic using Tibbit who was pretending to be his familiar, and would cast the spells for him. This way when people would come in to gank the "sorc" he would kick the crap out of them while I would still cast spells. Regards, Seth |
| ragoftag08-08-07, 07:24 PM | Manyfist I had a Tibbit Psion (telepath) written up named Blue (because of his blue fur, I know real original)Not to worry, a college friend's brothers brought her a kitten they found in the woods...a bobcat! She raised it and named it...Bob. |
| Rhonin the Big08-08-07, 07:50 PM | Tibbit Lurk, max out dex and int and take the Feats Confound the Big Folk & Underfoot Combat which are both from races of wild. Go melee in your kitty form, enter a medium creature's threat range and trip him than next round he's flatfooted. |
| celestialkin08-08-07, 11:28 PM | Snip... Warlock, just because it is a funny idea for you to have a cat familiar... I can second this. My Tibbit Grim Necromanacer just got his cat familiar, and no one suspects two innocent kitties wandering around town. Well, not until they start raising the dead that is. :D |
| HermitIX08-09-07, 02:37 AM | I played a tibbit psion. The cool thing is that you can use psionic powers in cat form. If you have complete adventurer there is a prestige class “Shadow Mind” that gives you rogue like abilities. If you have complete psionics I think there is a rogueish base class that will get you in to Shadow Mind. |

You lose most of your abilities, including casting, when you transform into a cat. However, you could ask your DM to rule the feat Natural Spell (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/lists/feats&tablefilter=natural%20spell) works for Psionics, and Tibbit cat form. |

Are you sure about that? You are talking about casting, not manifesting and they are pretty different. However here is what is written in the description of Feline Trasformation: This effect is similar to the spell polymorph but with a number of key changes It's similar, it doesn't say it functions like the polymorph spell, in fact after that, there is a step by step description of what you get, what you lose and what you can do. |
| celestialkin08-09-07, 08:25 AM | Are you sure about that? You are talking about casting, not manifesting and they are pretty different. True, but it serves the same purpose, so a good DM shouldn't have a problem ruling it does. Plus, there is that whole magic/psionics transparency thing. However here is what is written in the description of Feline Trasformation: It's similar, it doesn't say it functions like the polymorph spell, in fact after that, there is a step by step description of what you get, what you lose and what you can do. I agree, but it depends on your DM's view on it. The two DMs I have played Tibbit casters with decided it would be a bit unbalanced, so they both ruled it was effected by the polymorph errata. In the end I have to agree with them, though. Tiny sized casters are somewhat broken. |

I am reading the Polymorph on SRD and it says nothing about loosing ability to cast or manifest. Tiny sized casters are strong yes, but its no better than say a Large Melee fighter with Spiked Chain. |

In the description it doesn't says you can't cast spells, it says you can't cast spells with verbal and somatic components since you can't speak and you don't have hands. So a wizard can still cast a spell if it's silenced and stilled, so the same apply to a psion since he doesn't do anything to manifest a power. The "broken" thing (if you think like it) is that nobody suspect a cat to be a psion or a wizard, not that it is tiny ^^ |
