| HARLEYDUDE11-29-07, 06:12 PM | I just began thinking about a new chara idea. What races are available to play that are tiny? I'm leaning twards wizard or sorcerer. Thanks HD p.s. no eberron |
| Krusk11-29-07, 07:18 PM | I dont know of many timy races with no level adjustment, but a pixie or a grig can probably make a pretty good sorcerer. Grig has less La, but pixie has its racial mods and such laid out for you, grig takes work. A cricketman sorcerer would be sweet though. |
| Tedronai11-29-07, 07:31 PM | Pixie is Small, not Tiny Coure Eladrin and Musteval Guardinal, while ECL 7, each have rather interesting abilities that, if used properly, can make them competent characters in a higher-level game (though they will never match the power of their common race companions): The Coure can turn incorporeal at will, and the Musteval (by virtue of being a Guardinal) has Lay on Hands for it's full normal HPs. |
| zook1shoe66611-29-07, 08:24 PM | Jermlaine from the MM2 is a +0 tiny fey. makes an UBER druid |
| jradd77711-29-07, 08:27 PM | Well... Kobolds are small but they have Slight Build in a newer version which gives them a lot of the tiny traits. Here's a link (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20060420a) and they make great sorcerers I'm told. |
| celestialkin11-29-07, 09:19 PM | Well, tiny sized casters are usually broken. However, if you're playing in a campaign where it's less focused on such things it could be pretty fun. So far I have played two tiny sized casters in one of my current campaigns. The first was an awakened cat. With the DM's permission you can theoretically awaken any animal. Another option is to take a small sized creature and make him smaller. You can do this a number of ways. For my current kobold psion I had a continuous ring of Reduce Person made (see DMG creating magic items). You could also have the spell Reduce Person made permanent with the Permanency spell. |
| VanGrue11-29-07, 09:39 PM | My friend's playing a Kobold rogue/dungeon delver. DD's get Reduce Person 3/day at second level, so he'll be Tiny whenever he can. :D Someone mentioned a Petal warlock once. They said it was a +4 LA, I just looked it up and MM3 says they're LA +2. Plus, there's really very little info given on how to adapt it for a PC, and many of the qualities the person mentioned don't seem to exist in the MM entry. Oh well! |
| key11-30-07, 01:05 AM | What races are available to play that are tiny? Petal. |
| HARLEYDUDE11-30-07, 11:23 AM | Thanks guys!! this is just what i was looking for. HD p.s. Krusk-what book are the grig, pixie and cricketman in? |
| zook1shoe66611-30-07, 12:21 PM | what book are the grig, pixie and cricketman in? MM1 under Sprite? |
| Krusk11-30-07, 12:35 PM | Thanks guys!! this is just what i was looking for. HD p.s. Krusk-what book are the grig, pixie and cricketman in? the grig is a cricketman, although it looks more like a grasshopper to me. What with the fiddle and all. but yeah, Under sprite in MM1 |
| Pillow_Pants12-02-07, 05:37 PM | Try the Pseudodragon. That could be a lot of fun. Or make a tiny version of an Anthromorphized Animal. |
| Grizzled Gryphon12-02-07, 06:44 PM | Petal from MMIII. Makes for a really good sorcerer. |
| Essex12-02-07, 09:32 PM | The Monster Manual III indicates on both page 120 and page 224 that the Petal is only appropriate as a cohort. It is not meant to be used as a PC race. |
| HARLEYDUDE12-03-07, 11:41 AM | Try the Pseudodragon. That could be a lot of fun. Or make a tiny version of an Anthromorphized Animal. What books can these be found in? thanks HD |
| Krusk12-03-07, 12:25 PM | Try the Pseudodragon. That could be a lot of fun. Or make a tiny version of an Anthromorphized Animal. Pseudodragon is in the MMI. Not sure about the other, but a were-tiny animal might be what he means. Think about a were-shrew or a were-kiwi |
| zook1shoe66612-03-07, 12:29 PM | anthro-animal is in the Savage Species. they are humanoid animals. |
| fightdude12-04-07, 02:50 AM | I'm not sure what's available in your campaign, but I've got a loresong Faen who did the spryte metamorphosis from Monte Cook's Arcana Unearthed. It's straight up built for spellcasting PC's. |
| Krusk12-04-07, 12:33 PM | Anthromorphic characters cannot be tiny. Only small-large. so not sure if you are interested anymore. |
| CrimsonDeath12-04-07, 12:49 PM | Petal. Petal has LA +2 (cohort), which means they're generally not suitable as PCs although they can be acceptable as cohorts. The Tibbit is a Dragon Magazine race, a shapeshifter that has a Small form and a Tiny form. Hengeyoukai are shapeshifters from Oriental Adventures. They're normally Medium, but several varieties have Tiny alternate forms. |
| key12-04-07, 04:45 PM | Petal has LA +2 (cohort), which means they're generally not suitable as PCs although they can be acceptable as cohorts. I conveniently ignore that part. :) |
