Hey, I created a transformer template. This is my first template so please be harsh so (it may sound kinda sappy but...) I can improve myself.
Transformer (inherited template)
Size and Type: The creatures sizes changes to huge. Its type changes to construct.
Hit Dice: The creature keeps the same hit die.
Speed: The character gains a base land speed changes to 80 feet (16 squares) and when in its dragon form (see below) it has a flight speed of 50 ft (10 squares)
Armor class: The base creatures armor class improves by 10.
Speacil attacks: When in dragon form (see below) then creature gains a breath weapon of the same kind as the dragon he/she emulates he/she also gains a bite, tail swipe, and claws that deal damage as a dragon of the same size or a dragon of the same type as the transformer emulates of the adult age.
Saves: The creature no longer is immune to anything that requires a will save and takes a -10 on reflex save.
Abillities: Adjust the base creatures stats as follows:Str +15, Cha -10, dex -5, int +5
Skills: These are unaffected
Feats: These are unaffacted
Enviroment: any
Organization: any
Cr: +8
Treasre: same as base creature
Alignment: any
Advancment:any
La: +8

Please give me any variations from dragon if you've got any.

so this template allows a construct to change shape and that right? If so why the ability enhancers? I can see the strength changing and dex but not cha or int. "Saves: The creature no longer is immune to anything that requires a will save" WHY WOULD THIS CHANGE what was the logic behind this? What i think the template should have is some kind of hide bonus. well i hope this helps a little

Ok so heres my reasoning. Int you become a robot i mean come on of course you're smarter, and Cha your a big hulking robot people will be terrified of you. No more mind now more will saves. Maybe not hide because your huge but maybe when trying to disguise as a dragon maybe I should but a mod on that.

I made a transformer race (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=875401) on the Star Wars d20 side of the forums. Its "droid traits" could easily be changed to the Living Construct subtype.

I'll make a short list of my suggestions.

1. Take a look at the Druid's shape shifting for some inspiration or new ideas. Also look at how the Druid's shape shifting becomes more powerful as you gain levels. Giving +10 AR will make it very overpowered in early levels but would make it comparably weak at higher levels as the armor bonus remained at +10. Perhaps you give +1 natural armor for every two levels of Transformer with a maximum bonus of 10. That way it starts more in balance with other classes and becomes more powerful in a linear fashion. Same idea for the strength bonus. A level 1 Transformer could have more than 28 str depending on his race/gear. Even at level 20 an extra 15 strength during fights would be overpowered because of all the other strength bonuses you would get from magic weapons and armor.

I'd really suggest you should take another look at how powerful it is in relation to other classes. With a little tweaking you could probably weaken it some so it doesn't need a LA of +8.

2. The class looks pretty 1-dimensional. The player just changes to his construct form and then beats everything around him. While that can type of play can be very entertaining, some unique abilities would make the class more fun to play. Perhaps when it changes to construct form it's hands/arms become a sword and shield with special properties instead of hands. At specific levels the weapons/shield become more powerful. This would also allow you to balance the class more and give it some fun RP options. Instead of a sword-shield combo a player could take a two-handed weapon or dual wield 2 swords/axes.

3. You mentioned dragon form a few times but you never really explained it. Do you have an option to turn into a demi-dragon? Also, it would be good to create rules on how many times a day you can transform and how "long" the transformation takes. Does it work as a free-action or is it take a combat round. Maybe you can transform twice a day for ten rounds until level five. Then you can transform 3-4 times a day for 10 rounds, etc. Regardless of level you can use one of your transformations as a free action instead of a standard action. I.E. when the robots transform but they do so in mid-step.

OK, if a warforged has wild-shape, when he changes into a bear, would he look like a warfoged bear. If yes, TRANSFORMERS, more than meets the eye!!!
