| mists_cloud04-16-07, 07:30 PM | Is it possible to have a rce that is similar to a transformer? Kinda like the warforged, but able to 'transform' into a animal? The downfull being that they are unable to be healed naturally. they would keep the ordaniary weapons, as in no laser guns, just the basics, and any exotic weapons that they have to take feats to be able to use. Any help would be appriciated. |
| Timedude04-16-07, 07:40 PM | You could do that, or you could just buy Mechamorphosis (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/hr05.html) by Fantesy Flight Games. Complete mini-book containing rules that could be used to create a complete d20 Transformers campaign. However, if you want it to have a more DnD flavor, why not just add the lycan template to a warforged? Vio'la!All done on time for dinner! Good luck, Timedude |
| mists_cloud04-16-07, 08:21 PM | Lycan? |
| Zylo_Drizzt04-16-07, 08:26 PM | Lycan? as in were-creature or lycanthropic creature. it is a template in the monster manual 3.5 |
| mists_cloud04-16-07, 08:38 PM | i suppose, but that's not really transforming, that's shape shifting, i'm looking for more of a robot looking race. |
| penchant04-16-07, 08:40 PM | basically, take an animal and a warforged and run them throught the lycanthrope grinder found on page 175 of the Monstrous Manual 3.5. And yes, I've had the same crazy idea too. |
| Edymnion04-16-07, 08:41 PM | Warforged Druid. |
| mists_cloud04-16-07, 08:49 PM | Well I guess, it's just I want a beguiler transformer.. |
| mists_cloud04-16-07, 09:05 PM | basically, take an animal and a warforged and run them throught the lycanthrope grinder found on page 175 of the Monstrous Manual 3.5. And yes, I've had the same crazy idea too. would having the admantium body feat and being infected be the same? |
| runestar04-16-07, 10:34 PM | An alternative would be to simply play a warforged druid and take the city soul wildshape variant found here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/we/20070228a). :P |
| mists_cloud04-16-07, 10:45 PM | That could work, but I'd have to take 1 lvl in rogue for the pick lock and disable device. |

And yes, I've had the same crazy idea too. Yep. Like I said, nice and simple. Gives a alternate beast form, and even a sort of hybred form. Besides, you're not trying to re-create a Transformer exactly, are you? Your just trying to develope a charecter based on one. In an Eberron campaign, they could be a limmited number prototype warforged. Living rrelics of the Last War, or whatever your favorite hook is. I might just borrow this idea... It's a good one! | Cricket_God04-17-07, 11:29 AM | The Were-Warforged would generate the desired effect. But, Warforgeds are Constructs with the Living Construct subtype and Lycanthropy can only afflict humanoids or giants. Although, if you decide to ignore this point you could certainly generate the effect. To do it right, be a Warforged Were-Horse Warlock. Why? You maintain your composite plating in your alternate form (it is an Extraordinary Quality and is not lost when in alternate form as stated in the MM) so you will go from machine to mechanical mode of transportation and your eldritch blasts will simulate the effect of a blaster gun (or whatever the transformers use). If your looking for a more organic looking animal form, be a human and take the feats so that you can eldritch blast in full plate (armored mage taken twice would do the trick). |

Giving a humanoid construct the "humanoid" type should be a small leap, I think. Warlock as a class would be a good suggestion and I second (If you need one. Lycos are tough to begin with). As for types, just look a Beast Wars for inspiration. Dinosaurs have the animal type and are therefore applicable to the lyco process as well as normal "animals". Warforged weretyrannosaur Warlock = Megatron? |
| Warforged Goblin04-17-07, 12:27 PM | Beast Wars? Bah! Back in my day, Megatron was a Walther-P38 handgun that Starscream could use to punch holes in autobot plating the size of watermelons. However, if you're looking for a were-construct that's more than meets the eye, I suggest applying my forged creature template to a lycanthrope and see what happens. Forged Creature Template “Forged Creature” is an acquired template that can be added to any corporeal aberration, animal, dragon, giant, humanoid, magical beast, monstrous humanoid, or vermin. A forged creature has all the base creature’s statistics, special abilities, and special qualities except as noted here. Size and Type: The creature type changes to construct. Do not recalculate base attack bonus, saves, or skill points. The base creature also gains the living construct subtype in addition to any other subtypes the base creature may have had. Size is unchanged. Hit Dice: Change all racial hit dice to d10s. Do not change hit dice gained from class levels. Armor Class: A forged creature loses any natural armor bonus the base creature may have had, instead gaining an armor bonus equal to either +2 or the base creature’s natural armor bonus, whichever is greater. This armor bonus is the same kind as a warforged’s composite plating, and has all the advantages and disadvantages outlined on pages 23 and 24 of the Eberron Campaign Setting. Attack: In addition to any natural attacks the base creature may have had, the forged creature gains a slam attack that deals damage based on size, as shown on the table below. Size Damage Size Damage Diminutive 1 Large 1d6 Tiny 1d2 Huge 1d8 Small 1d3 Colossal 1d10 Medium 1d4 Gargantuan 1d12 If the base creature can use weapons, the forged creature retains this ability. A base creature with natural weapons retains those natural weapons. Despite how high the base attack bonus of a forged creature may be, it can only use its slam attack once per round. If it has any other forms of attack, it may use its slam in conjunction with those attacks as a secondary attack with a -5 penalty. Special Qualities: A forged creature retains all the base creature’s special qualities, with the exception of those that rely on breathing, such as Scent, Hold Breath, etc. If the base creature has a breath weapon, the forged creature retains that special ability. A forged creature also gains the special qualities listed below. Living Construct Traits: A forged creature has all the traits of a living construct, as outlined on page 23 of the Eberron Campaign Setting. Abilities: Increase from the base creature as follows: +2 Con, -2 Wis, -2 Cha. Skills: A forged creature with an Intelligence score of 5 or higher gains a +2 bonus to any Craft check to repair itself. Special: A forged creature is considered a warforged for the purposes determining prerequisites for class requirements, feats, or magic items. Organization: Solitary or as base creature Challenge Rating: Same as base creature +1 Treasure: Same as base creature Alignment: Same as base creature Advancement: Same as base creature Level Adjustment: Same as base creature +1 Sample Forged Creature This example uses a dire weasel as the base creature. A sleek and sinuous metallic form rears up in front of you. It’s nearly as long as a human is tall, with metal horns sprouting from atop its wedge-shaped head. It moves with an excited quickness and fluidity. Forged Dire Weasel Medium Construct (Living Construct) Hit Dice: 3d10+3 (19 Hp) Initiative: +4 Speed: 40 ft. (8 squares) Armor Class: 16 (+4 Dex, +2 armor bonus), touch 14, flat-footed 21 Base Attack/Grapple: +2/+4 Attack: Bite +6 melee (1d6+3) or slam +6 melee (1d4+3) Full Attack: Bite +6 melee (1d6+3) and slam +1 melee (1d4+3) Space/Reach: 5 ft/5 ft. Special Attacks: Attach, blood drain Special Qualities: Living construct traits, low light vision Saves: Fort +4, Ref +7, Will +4 Abilities: Str 14, Dex 19, Con 12, Int 2, Wis 10, Cha 9 Skills: Hide +7, Listen +3, Move Silently +8, Spot +4 Feats: Alertness, Stealthy, Weapon Finesse* Environment: Any Organization: Solitary or pair Challenge Rating: 3 Treasure: None Alignment: Always neutral Advancement: 4-6 HD (Medium), 7-9 HD (Large) Level Adjustment: - Forged dire weasels act similarly to regular dire weasels: being aggressive, overexcited creatures with boundless energy. They race around almost non-stop due to their lack of a need for sleep. Occasionally, an artificer or warforged will befriend one of these creatures as a pet or companion. Forged dire weasels are approximately 10 feet long and weigh about 800 pounds, although much larger specimens have been rumored to exist. COMBAT Forged dire weasels do not attack out of hunger, only self-defense, preferring to hide and the ambush attackers, leaping upon them while biting and clawing. Attach (Ex): A forged dire weasel that hits with its bite attack latches onto the opponent’s body with its powerful jaws. An attached forged dire weasel loses its Dexterity bonus to AC and thus has an AC of 12. An attached forged dire weasel can be struck with a weapon or grappled itself. To remove an attached forged dire weasel through grappling, the opponent must achieve a pin against the creature. Blood Drain (Ex): A forged dire weasel drains blood for 1d4 points of Constitution damage each round it remains attached. |
| penchant04-17-07, 01:17 PM | Just to get my geek on, Megatron was not only a Walther P38, but he was the Walther P38 used by Robert Vaughn in The Man From Uncle. http://uniquecanes.com/new/images/manuncle/manuncle.jpg http://uniquecanes.com/new/images/manuncle/manuncle2.jpg I used the Beast Wars example soley based upon the number of animal forms availiable. |

I used the Beast Wars example soley based upon the number of animal forms availiable. Which is why I posted my forged template. IIRC, the Beast Machines series was more "mech-animal" than Beast Wars, which would be perfect for the template, IMHO. |
