| seventh_scroll01-22-08, 10:01 AM | Minor point of interest: Why does a tree dwelling creature(as the name implies. Feel free to correct me) have Darkvision? Low Light vision would be perfectly acceptable, but there's no logical reason why a creature that lives aboveground would require DV. Is this a race that lived underground for generations, and is just now migrating to the surface? Also, reduced wisdom doesn't make a lot of sense to me. How do they detect predators? Hide is a great skill to have, but unless you're hiding all the time, you need to know your opponent is coming to avoid them. Is there a special reason this race has survived? Do they ally themselves with larger races? Do they have natural camouflage that keeps them hidden even when they're moving about? What about predators with scent? What keeps other creatures from climbing up their trees and eating them? Unless your DM casts details to the wind, you'll want to answer these questions before worrying about racial modifiers. |
| HernetheHunter01-22-08, 10:21 AM | The points mentioned above seconded. Are they primitive? Have you ever read any of Terry Brooks' Shannara(sp?) series? In a couple of books he mentions a primitive culture of gnomes called Spider Gnomes which have a tail and are great tree dwellers. |
