| 2goth4U10-29-07, 06:16 PM | Elf, Twilight Origin: Twilight Elves are an off-shoot of the Drow Elven race. They are the descendants of Drow who have been born and raised on the surface. Almost universally they are followers of the goddess Eilistraee. Eilistraee is the daughter of Corellan Larethian and Araushnee (aka Lolth or Lloth). She offers an alternate path for the Drow and hopes one day for elven reunification. Description: Twilight Elves look just like their Drow cousins physically. Like their Drow cousins they are shorter than other Elven subspecies. However, that is where the similarity ends. Twilight Elves practice cultural norms more in line with other surface elves. This leaves them less paranoid, competitive and ruthless than their Drow cousins. Drow also practice ruthless culling of the weak whereas the Twilight Elves do not. These factors, unfortunately, combine to make Twilight Elves physically weaker and to have a less keen intellect than their Drow cousins. Twilight Elves do not seem to have the same intense resistance to magic that their Drow cousins do, but it is not known why this is exactly. They also seem to lack the spell like abilities of their Drow brethren but this seems to be attributable to a lack of use, need or training rather than any other factor. Some Twilight Elves do seem to have these abilities but most do not. Twilight Elves have Darkvision like their Drow cousins but it has diminished as they spend much more time above ground. For the same reason, Twilight Elves are not blinded in bright light as their Drow cousins are. Twilight Elves tend to be more dedicated to beauty, music, dance, and swordplay than other elves because their dedication to Eilistraee was part of the reason they turned their backs on Drow society. The life of a bard appeals to Twilight Elves and many of them pursue that life. • -2 Strength, +2 Dexterity, –2 Constitution, +2 Charisma. • Medium: As Medium creatures, elves have no special bonuses or penalties due to their size. • Elf base land speed is 30 feet. • Immunity to magic sleep effects, and a +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells or effects. • Darkvision: Twilight Elves can see in the dark up to 60 feet. Darkvision is black and white only, but it is otherwise like normal sight, and they can function just fine with no light at all. • Weapon Proficiency: Twilight Elves are automatically proficient with the hand crossbow, the rapier, and the short sword. • Bonus Feat: Twilight Elves are universally skilled with the short sword and gain the bonus feat Weapon Focus (Short Sword). • +2 racial bonus on Listen, Search, and Spot checks. An elf who merely passes within 5 feet of a secret or concealed door is entitled to a Search check to notice it as if she were actively looking for it. • Twilight Elves are oft-maligned by the deeds of their Underdeep cousins and suffer a -4 circumstance penalty on any interactions with races aware of the Drow. This penalty can be overcome through role-playing with specific individuals. • Automatic Languages: Common and Elven. Bonus Languages: Undercommon, Draconic, Drow Sign Language, Gnome, Goblin and Sylvan. • Favored Class: Bard. A multiclass twilight elf’s bard class does not count when determining whether she takes an experience point penalty for multiclassing. New Racial Feat Gift of Lolth [Racial] Prerequisite: Int 10+, Twilight Elf. Benefit: Character can use the following spell-like abilities once per day: Dancing Lights, Darkness, and Faerie Fire. Caster level equals the character’s class levels. |
