| TheDarkPrince06-27-07, 03:07 AM | How would you guys stat out a creature with two-heads? Would you have no penalties for two-weapon fighting, not be flanked, etc? Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks, Cheers! :D |
| KurenaiYami06-27-07, 03:14 AM | Savage Species has the multi-headed template. |
| sensestaker06-27-07, 03:15 AM | Multi-headed template from Savage Species tells you everything you need. If you don't have that book, check out the ettin. |
| Rerecros06-27-07, 03:17 AM | There is no simple answer for that. To gain all around vision, the creature would need to be able to see 360* around it at all times, ettins don't qualify. Ettins have the two weapon fighting thing, but they weren't meant to be a PC race, so it doesn't specify wether one head controls only one arm, or the bodies functions my be more evenly divided between the two heads. is there more than one personality? are both continously active? do they fight for control? Is one entirely dominant? Is there more than one soul? Where is the additional head(s) located? |
| sensestaker06-27-07, 03:31 AM | Now that I'm not racing to be the first to say Savage Species (I lost :P ) I'll go into more detail abouit how I have handled two heads. SS lists the benefit of having 2 heads as Superior Two Weapon Fighting and says that each head controls an arm, treating both arms (and weapons) as primary attacks, meaning full attacks and attack bonus. They get a bonus to spot, but are still subject to flanking. The problem with flanking is that you still have a front and a back. As for attitude, that depends more on the individual than the number of heads-a chaotic creature would likely fight with itself, while a lawful creature probably wouldn't (btw, chaos+2 heads=FUN :D :D ) |
| Rerecros06-27-07, 03:34 AM | What's more fun is two heads of opposing alignments   |
| runestar06-27-07, 03:38 AM | Depends on the extent to which you wish to benefit from having 2 heads. Chronotyn, Demogorgon and Bazim Gorag are able to take 2 full rounds of actions each round thanks to their dual minds. Obviously, this will net you a hefty LA as a PC special ability. Stuff like not taking any TWFing penalties or immunity to flanking are still useful, but not as broken. You could have 2 heads just for flavour, and perhaps represent this as a bonus to spot/listen checks etc. |
| sensestaker06-27-07, 03:54 AM | What's more fun is two heads of opposing alignments   That would be fun to play http://planetsmilies.net/angry-smiley-1546.gif (http://planetsmilies.net) (the dm and other players would probably want to kill you, though) |
| TheDarkPrince06-27-07, 04:08 AM | Yeah, I had a look at Demogorgon's stats, and wow that two headed thing is broken! What about this template? Two headed Mutant (http://www.seankreynolds.com/rpgfiles/monsters/two-headed-mutant.html)? |
| TheDarkPrince06-27-07, 03:47 PM | How would you guys RP a character with two distinct personalities? Thanks, Cheers! :D |
| Darth Sephiroth06-27-07, 03:49 PM | Enjoy (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mm/20020621a) |
