Undead Soul? [Archive] - Wizards Community

I have a quick odd question. In a current campaign, I am a LG Undead Human Paladin of Heironeous. I died and was raised and just recently found out I was undead.

Anyways, during a session I had to miss due to work reasons, some things happened that I just learned of at our session tonight.

There is a Necromancer in our group (due to comedic reasons I have not yet figured out shes evil so I haven't attacked her) and she visited the far realms and was "given my soul which had been stolen when i died."

Now, here is my question. If I don't or never had a soul, wouldn't I just be some useless non-sentient undead? I know its a gray area, and for one thing, how is a soul stolen? If I had been present when this happened I would of contested, and it is the DM's first time as DM.

But it is important because now that I know I'm undead I'm trying to be True Rez'd but since it says I have to be willing (which I am), the sorcerer is taking that as she having my soul she has to be willing and she isn't.

Advice? Is this possible?

If you're after a rules call, I'm afraid you are going to be out of luck: The situation breaks the rules from the start, so it is completely up to the DM who made up the situation in the first place. He has houseruled in a way of stealing a soul and a way of being raised as a fully functioning undead, so he will have to do the rules call on how his houserules interact.

It sounds like he is doing this as part of the adventure plot, so if he has any brains at all he will already know what will be happening. If he just did those things "because it sounded cool at the time" then Heironeous help you. And your character.

If you want opinions: I would say that you would have to have retained your soul in order to continue functioning as a Paladin, even as an Undead one. Whether that was your entire soul, or just a fraction, where the rest was stolen is immaterial as far as I think: a piece of infinity is still infinite.
I would thus rule that you you could be ressed without difficulty. Whether this would leave the sorceror still holding a piece of your soul, or simply nothing works either way.

Even if you did not retain any of your soul, your body, mind and soul are all willing for the resurrection to work. There are only a few methods by which a soul can be prevented from returning to its body. Unless the sorceror is specifically using one of them, you can still be raised.

Ask the DM if this soul-stealing thing is going anywhere. If he has in mind a way for you to get it back (or if it's vital to the plot), consider just being patient. If not, go find a high-level Cleric of Heironious and see if you can get a Miracle cast on you to recover your soul.
