Can anyone venture an LA adjustment for the Unseelie Nymph (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mm/20020112a) from Monster Mayhem and the modified Ogre Mage (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dd/20060721a) from Monster Makeover? Also, for some reason I can't view the Leanan Sidhe (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/arch/mm) from Monster Mayhem. Did anyone save it somewhere?
Finfreeze 02-27-07, 03:19 PM	My (off the mark) guesses... Unseelie Nymph: 3 HD, LA +1 Revised Ogre Mage: 6 HD, LA +3 Unseelie Nymph powers are mostly very, very, very situational. Charm doesn't work on nonhumanoids, Corrupting Beauty is kinda pointless and only works once a week, and the Corruption of Nature takes weeks to work. So basically, it's just high stats, bonus feats, and Spell Resistance. Ogre mage gets some nice spell-likes, good stats, flight, and fast healing, but giant HD are kinda weak compared to the monstrous humanoid hit dice of a minotaur. It's better than the minotaur overall, but I'll say that the weakened HD allow it to sit at LA +3. As for similar races (rough for ogre mage and nymph)... Doppelganger: 4 HD, +2 LA Grig: LA +3 Leanan Sidhe: — (+1 if you really want to bother, nice stats and fun if paired with a bard, but HD kills its spellcasting and the other powers just don't fit for PCs) Nixie: LA +2 Regular Nymph: 6 HD, LA +4 Pixie: LA +5 Minotaur: 6 HD, LA +2 Ogre: 4 HD, LA +1 Old Ogre Mage: 5 HD, LA +5 I can access the Leanan Sidher just fine from the Monster Mayhem Archive page.
Old_Man_Winter2 02-27-07, 05:46 PM	Hey, thanks for the reply :) Unseelie Nymph: The powers are weak I agree. LA +1 seems a little weak for stat bouses +2 Dex, +6 Int, +4 Wis, +8 Cha though? But then you might have taken the fey HD into account and those likely factor down ? By the way, how do you count SR for creatures like these? Would you say straight 16, or as 13+HD or 12+class levels (if LA+1) or ...? like the Hags in Savage Species. It's for a PC class that I'm looking at this. Looks nice for the Ogre Mage :) Any other opinions? Btw normal nymph is LA+7. I guess druid caster levels and blinding beauty are just too awesome ;)
Andyr 02-28-07, 12:56 PM	Doppelganger: 4 HD, +2 LA Thought I'd just mention that, from the Monster Manual or Races of Destiny, Doppleganger is 4HD and +4LA. :)
