| PartyVangina09-04-07, 04:43 PM | So, my DM is...quite frankly, a dick. He's always very logical in his thinking...and he and I can't agree on abilities and limitations for vampires. ie. The rule for Children of the Night is that whatever you summon shows up in...something like d6 rounds. He claims that that ability is bogus because the wolves (in this case) could be different distances apart and they'd show up at different times. He also thinks that you can't be hit by a lightning spell that SPECIFICALLY says that anything within a 60ft radius of the target makes a reflex save, if there is something between you and the target. Anyways, so he's being a really logical thinker and not a very fun thinker and I was wondering what the definate rules were for being a vampire. (Like having a distaste for garlic, being damaged by holy water, not being able to be in the sunlight at all (even under think shade), and not being able to enter a house unless invited in). And sorry if this isn't the right place, but I figured that even though vampirism is a disease, they might still be counted as a race. |

As for the logic NERFing you can point out the Rules As Written sometimes are illogical to add balance to the game. Also you can call the changes what they really are, house rules. |

As for the lightning thing... vampires are immune to electrical damage. So in your example, if the vampire is the one that escaped unscathed, then its a no harm, no foul situation. If its the vampire that is the center and everything "behind" him is protected... well, that's I think wrong in almost all circumstances barring the spell being a "spread" area of effect and the target using a tower shield for full cover. |
| RobbyPants09-05-07, 01:50 PM | As for the lightning thing... vampires are immune to electrical damage. They have electric resistance of 20 (which might be close enough to immune in many cases), but they aren't immune. |
| God of Slivers10-02-07, 12:21 PM | They have electric resistance of 20 (which might be close enough to immune in many cases), but they aren't immune. The SRD says they have resistance 10. I don't have my books handy so that may be a typo, but just FYI. |
| zook1shoe66610-02-07, 09:35 PM | i see electricity resistance 10 in my notes. |

My brain damage is acting up again." |
