Warcraft races - how compatible with dnd? [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-19-07, 07:32 AM I was flipping though the warcraft roleplaying corebook a fews ago and found that their mechanics were quite similar to dnd mechanics, save for a few minor name changes (dex is agility, wis is spirit etc).

The races look quite cool (LA+0 trolls for example), but I am wondering if their power lv is compatible with dnd, since there are a few examples which seem rather out of whack.

For example, the forsaken are a LA+0 undead race (effectively, they get undead traits and minor physical stat adjustments). Of course, the drawback is that your class HD is not upgraded, but it has a 2-racial feat tree which ultimately lets you use your cha mod for everything which formerly involved con (such as extra hp, rage duration etc). And its racial class looks fairly useful as well (improves your NA and str).

Also, the troll has a 3 lv troll-paragon class which grants fast healing (con mod) by 3rd lv.:eek:

Do these look problematic to you? Anyone with experience porting them over care to comment?:)

08-19-07, 08:23 AM There is a WoW d20 book. Overall its decent albiet the power level is ramped up a bit. A CR 1 creature in WoW is a tough fight for a balanced party of 4 2nd level characters.

Yeah, it's a semi-high-powered setting, from the looks of things. Note also that all the base races are bumped up in power-level, as well: most of them end up pretty close to a standard D&D LA +1. I haven't had a chance to play it at all, though.

08-19-07, 10:03 PM It scales rampantly from there. CR 4 Mob in WoWd20 is about a CR 6 creature in DnD3.x. CR 9 in WoWd20 is a little more powerful than a CR 13 DnD 3.x monster.
