| Ozzymandias03-27-07, 12:32 PM | What is the duration of these abilities? If it's the same as Burning Talent, then this class is really powerful as he levels up. Each level results in a new ability that makes him stronger, and makes his previous abilities last longer. Can the character combine Two-Weapon Fighting with his abilities? I don't see why he couldn't, really. Then again, after reading the spell, I find that using it discharges it, ending its duration. This doesn't work. I can light my hand on fire, but if I attack with it, I lose the fire and the use is finished for the day. So in a fight, I can make one of these attacks once for each level I have, and the damage is one-half my level in d6. A warlock deals that much damage without no limit on uses per day. A rogue does likewise, assuming he can successfully sneak attack his target. Actually, the class is very interesting, with a neat mix of abilities. The problem that I'm seeing is that it's confusing as it's currently written, and I'm not entirely sure that it's an effective character to play in combat. Basically, I get a massive bonus to my attack rolls, which is cool (it helps make Power Attack and Two-Weapon Fighting easier to use), but I take a massive penalty to my AC, which means I'm getting hit that much more often, thus I can't stand my ground for a significant length of time. Not so sure that's a good idea. Hope this helps. |
| XrP-Leon The Second03-27-07, 05:40 PM | Ah, well, thats what I get for making classes in my spare time of 1st and 4th block while half asleep ;) What is the duration of these abilities? I've updated each ability to have a duration. If it is not specified, then the ability is instantanious and has no lasting effects. If it's the same as Burning Talent, then this class is really powerful as he levels up. Each level results in a new ability that makes him stronger, and makes his previous abilities last longer. Can the character combine Two-Weapon Fighting with his abilities? I don't see why he couldn't, really. I haven't worked out exactly how two-weapon fighting will work, really. I'll think about that as I make some updates, and then include it. Then again, after reading the spell, I find that using it discharges it, ending its duration. This doesn't work. I can light my hand on fire, but if I attack with it, I lose the fire and the use is finished for the day. A rogue does likewise, assuming he can successfully sneak attack his target. That's a good point. However, it is only a move action to relight yourself. Would it be better balanced if I made it 2xlevel per day, and upped the damage to 1d6/level? Possibly make it capable of increasing the value of the damage die, as well? Actually, the class is very interesting, with a neat mix of abilities. The problem that I'm seeing is that it's confusing as it's currently written, and I'm not entirely sure that it's an effective character to play in combat. Not so sure that's a good idea. Hope this helps. Thanks, I try for interesting first, balance second (as you can see). I'll make an attempt to clear up the confusion a little bit. Would you suggest that giving it a larger hitdie and possibly access to the feat in Player's Guide to Faerun, which heals you if you are in a fire of X size? Your imput helps a lot, thanks. |
