| Crimsondagger08-02-07, 02:04 PM | Ok I have a bit of a problem. I am playing a minotaur ranger and while most of the party has horses or pony's I cant quite figure out what would be a good mount for something that big.:help: Remember If you cant take the punches. Learn how to block. :monk: Acording to the test I am a Lawful Good Dwarf Paladin.:D |
| Sorcen_Anenooata08-02-07, 02:26 PM | A really big horse. Barring that an elephant or choose from some of the magical beasts mounts. Or if you feel froggy create a new beast to be a specially bred mount for minotaurs. |

| Omega_Grey08-02-07, 02:37 PM | I looked up the following creatures of the animal subtype from the Monster Manual and created a list of all the ones that meet the size requirements. Most of them are very powerful and are beyond the rangers animal companion ability, but I didnt know all the details of your campaign so I included all that I could think of. Dire Bear (Advanced to 17 HD), Dire Boar (Advanced to 17 HD), Dire Lion (Advanced to 17 HD), Dire Tiger (Advanced to 33 HD), Elephant, Giant Crocodile, Huge Constrictor Snake, Megaraptor (Advanced to 17 HD), Roc, Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus. I was really hoping that the Bison could be advanced to huge, as that seemed like a great fit, I suppose you could always try to homebrew a dire bison to fit the bill. |
| Ecalsneerg08-02-07, 02:39 PM | http://www.onaraonline.org/downloads/PlayersGuideErrata_2006-06-03.pdf Dire bison is in the appendix (corrected stat blocks). At least, I think so, this is just my link to the document. |
| duboisjf08-02-07, 02:54 PM | It's not exactly a mount but you could have four-horse chariot. Watch out for difficult terrain and opponents sundering your wheels. |
| Lord_Of_The_Abyss08-02-07, 05:07 PM | Steelwing, from MMV. Huge magical beast, a little expensive, but perfect, it gives you the carrying capacity (does it say what that is for the elephant in the MM?) Also, it's a little strong, you'd definately need your DM's permission, but it can carry you plus 2 other people and still fly and attack (does anyone know why they can carry twice as much people as normal? They're huge and they can carry two large creatures  ) |

Actually, there are no size requirements. Your mount just has to be able to carry you (which typically means you have to have a mount at least one size category larger). The real problem there is finding the weight of a minotaur. |
| Garonak08-03-07, 03:23 AM | A minotaur weighs about 700pounds. I would suggest an advanced Dire Horse with the warbeast template, all in MM2. Costs 100+100/HD I think. |
| UnrelentingHoror08-03-07, 08:35 AM | I just had a wonderful image in my head! If there are exotic beast markets or something you can get to, buy a Rhino! That would be pretty cool.:D |
| Helpmeplease08-03-07, 09:00 AM | If the GM allows it. A simple animal growth spell and permancy. Or Have a MU create a bridle of animal growth w/1-3 uses a day. You can put on any horse trained for you and then you can take it off when feeding time comes, you won't have a huge mount to feed, and No need to pay for extra large equipment. |
| zelf_gale08-03-07, 10:41 AM | Huge Vipers have the lowest CR of the Huge animals in Monster Manual I. Its speed is only 20, but it also has a climb speed, a swim speed, and poison. |
| Asra08-03-07, 12:09 PM | Instead of just getting an elephant, I suggest a Dire Elephant. You can build a shack on top of it and have a mobile home! Much better than just some random means of transportation! |
| joshlordofillogic08-03-07, 12:54 PM | A kodo beast. now seriously: a dire rhino, a giant centipede, a dire moose, a giant rust monster (ooh this one's evil), a giant mantis. |
| Onikani08-03-07, 01:03 PM | There's a feat in ComAdv that lets you add 4 to your druid level as long as it won't exceed your HD. That really shouldn't be a problem here (racial HD). Also the Beastmaster PRC (also CA) gives you 4 druid levels at level 1 (and they CAN exceed your HD). Combined you get another 8 levels to add to your druid level. You should be able to get a rhino or an elephant pretty easily... |
| moosekickedmysisterstoof08-13-07, 04:38 PM | How about a dinosaur? Maybe a t-rex or a triceratops? - John |
| Ogrebear08-14-07, 08:32 AM | If you have access to the Warcraft D20 rpg books then there are stats for the Minotaur like Tauren mounts called the Kodo's in there. Kodo's are vaguely dinosaur like. Page on them from WoW Wki (http://www.wowwiki.com/Kodo) http://www.wowwiki.com/images/7/70/GreatWhiteKodo.jpg |
| gullas08-14-07, 10:53 AM | take few lvls in the dragon rider class and ride the dragon;) |
| lord_xarallon08-14-07, 02:18 PM | Tlalusk, Battletitan Dinosaur, Bullette, and Beacon Moth are trainalbe huge creatures. But there does not seem to be a mount trick, but it should be fairly simple to make one up with you DM. Otherwise my vote goes for Dragon rider because it would be cool. |
| monkofcuthbert468408-14-07, 03:06 PM | Use a dire bull (if there is one). It would be like a kuo-toa riding a giant frog. |
| DrRufio08-14-07, 04:50 PM | Battletitan is a trainable, ridable dinosaur from mm3. Depending on the level of your party though, you may not even be able to come close to affording it (not to mention it could probably fight all your battles for you.) |
| UnrelentingHoror08-15-07, 02:38 AM | Use a dire bull (if there is one). It would be like a kuo-toa riding a giant frog. Speaking of that, I have yet to see stats for giant frogs. :( You'd think they would have been published.... then again I only have the original MM. |
| JellyPooga08-15-07, 03:13 AM | I've always wanted to play a Half-Ogre, Ogre or Minotaur (depending on level) Arcane Heirophant with a Rhino as his Familiar Companion/mount...that intelligence is going to cause arguments at some point and I just wanted to see my character wrestling his Companion to the ground to "persuade" it to let him saddle-up :P . |
| Wolf7208-15-07, 04:51 PM | A large quadruped with a really good str and Mighty steed feat instead of one of its normal feats (Mighty steed, source?, lets a mount carry creatures of its own size). so create your own dire horse (up the str, con, hd) w/o increasing size ... give it a the new feat, voila! |
| Thief_of_Hope08-16-07, 03:51 AM | Here's the link to Necromancer Games' pdf containing their dire template: http://www.necromancergames.com/pdf/ToHDire.pdf Mighty steed sounds mighty useful. :P I'm curious as to where it is from as well. |
| Andorxor08-16-07, 04:53 AM | You could use a permant animated huge statue of a horse with wheels. |
| Wolf7208-16-07, 12:37 PM | Here's the link to Necromancer Games' pdf containing their dire template: http://www.necromancergames.com/pdf/ToHDire.pdf Mighty steed sounds mighty useful. :P I'm curious as to where it is from as well. ToH and Creature Catalog are most excellent (own first run ToH) Just looked it up: Mighty Steed is from BoK and KOoK (Bestiary and Knightly Orders of Krynn) |
