| Red_Rabbit06-01-07, 01:45 AM | Title pretty much says it I just need some opinions. Thx |
| Crimson_Concerto06-01-07, 02:02 AM | Depends. Is Telekinesis like 1/day, 3/day, or like at will? Also, will it be a Spell-Like or Supernatural ability? |
| Red_Rabbit06-01-07, 02:56 AM | At will spell like ability |
| Part-Human206-01-07, 11:53 AM | +3 LA because it's not even a veiled attempt at power shopping (getting a specific ability by making a race). If it slowly scalled up then perhaps +2 LA. |
| penchant06-01-07, 12:07 PM | Telekinesis can take many forms. If you just want a TK human, then you can start out with Mage Hand at will at low hit dice, and move up to Unseen Servant at medium hit dice and then get the full Telekinesis at will at high hit dice. Make a few flavor additions and stick with the +2 LA. |
| Crimson_Concerto06-01-07, 12:11 PM | I agree about the scaling slowly thing. Perhapse treat the spell level as 1/2 HD and the save as equal to 10+ 1/2 HD + CHA mod instead of using the actual spell level of 5 so that it's possible to save versus at earlier levels but not useless later or. Also, do you want the CL of this ability to be equal to HD or 1/2 HD? EDIT: Oh, and as a possible method of lowering the LA, perhapse consider having Telekinesis have a cool-down of 1D4 rounds? a.k.a. after using it, you have to wait at least 1D4 rounds before using it again. I got the idea from looking at the Ghost template... |
| Zaver06-01-07, 12:21 PM | Yeah if you actually give a lvl 1 character telekinesis at will, you just up and made Sylar from Heroes and that needs a high LA. |
| periscope06-01-07, 02:12 PM | there is a telekineticist class on the boards, check the peach orchard. |
| Crimson_Concerto06-01-07, 02:29 PM | there is a telekineticist class on the boards, check the peach orchard. Multiple, in fact. The Psychic class in there gets it too. |
| Harliquinn06-01-07, 02:38 PM | I'm guessing he wants to get into Master of the Unseen Hand. |
| Red_Rabbit06-01-07, 02:38 PM | Githyanki might be more what I might go with than it's +1 LA and Telekinesis at will. It's a template out of Manual of the planes. |
| Crimson_Concerto06-01-07, 02:46 PM | Githyanki might be more what I might go with than it's +1 LA and Telekinesis at will. It's a template out of Manual of the planes. What are you talking about? Githyanki don't have Telekinesis at will. The closest thing they have to that is Mage Hand 3/day. Also, Githyanki are a +2 LA race, not a +1 LA template... |
| Red_Rabbit06-01-07, 02:48 PM | according to the manual of planes they do, and I wasn't even gonna respond to the sylar thing but I changed my mind. You can't use Telekinesis in that way in D&D that should be enough said. |
| Crimson_Concerto06-01-07, 02:52 PM | according to the manual of planes they do, and I wasn't even gonna respond to the sylar thing but I changed my mind. You can't use Telekinesis in that way in D&D that should be enough said. Isn't manuel of the planes 3.0? Githyanki are in the MM 3.5 and they are in no way what you described. They're not a template (nor do I think they ever have been), they're not +1 LA, and they don't have Telekinesis at all. Are you sure you're looking at the right name? |
| penchant06-01-07, 10:58 PM | In the manual of the planes Githyanki do have psionic telekinesis at will in addition to several other at will abilities. There is no level adjustment indicated however (3.0 after all) but are challenge rating 1, which might be what you might be thinking of. Challenge rating and Level Adjustment are two very different things. I think there is a reason that they had those abilities removed in 3.5 and would stick with that version rather than try to base your race idea on this older build. In the 3.5 monster manual version they get telekinesis 3 times per day at 9th level. Its almost like what I suggested before. I'm a genius. |
