| Chells07-25-07, 02:07 PM | I have an idea for a new character and wanted to apply the Plant Type to him/her. If I give it nothing else what would the ECL be in comparision to the other basic starting races? Thanks Plant Type Features: A plant creature has the following features. —8-sided Hit Dice. —Base attack bonus equal to 3/4 total Hit Dice (as cleric). —Good Fortitude saves. —Skill points equal to (2 + Int modifier, minimum 1) per Hit Die, with quadruple skill points for the first Hit Die. Traits: A plant creature possesses the following traits —Low-light vision. —Immunity to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns, and morale effects). —Immunity to poison, sleep effects, paralysis, polymorph, and stunning. —Not subject to critical hits. —Proficient with its natural weapons only. —Proficient with no armor. —Plants breathe and eat, but do not sleep. |

As things go normally, you can't just make him the plant type. You'll probably have to write up a race of your own that just has the plant type. The plant type by itself is worth an LA+2 at the lowest. They have immunity to all mind-affecting effects, poison, sleep effects, paralysis, polymorph, and stunning. Not to mention you can't crit them and they don't need to sleep. |
| Part-Human207-25-07, 05:06 PM | MMII has Needlefolk, Myconids and Twig Blights (LA listed in the 3.5 update document). They vary from 2 HD +1LA to 3 HD + 3LA. |
| Grumman07-25-07, 07:59 PM | There is also the Woodling template in MM3, which adds a +3 to LA, in exchange for the plant type, DR, natural armour, spell-like abilities and slam attacks. |
| runestar07-25-07, 10:30 PM | Unapproachable east has the Volodni at LA+2. So LA+2 seems the closest estimation to the weight given to plant traits.:) |
| BloodSpill07-26-07, 12:22 AM | Just make a template and ritual similar to the Ritual of Crucimigration from Libris Mortis. LA +0, but lose a level. And some gold. |
