| Misaru05-09-07, 10:37 PM | It's either gotta be the Rock Gnome or Lightfeet Halfling. Therefore, there was only one conclusion: Half-breed. Halfling-Gnome The Klarum : - +2 Intellect, -2 Strength - Small - Base Speed 20ft - +2 against spells and spell-like abilities - +2 to Listen checks - Low-light vision - 4 ranks in any one skill - Jack-of-all-Trades bonus feat (Complete Adventurer) - Languages: Common, Giant - Bonus Languages: Draconic, Dwarven, Halfling, Gnome, Sylvan - Favored Class: Bard |

| MagicMouth05-10-07, 01:02 PM | 1: Gnomes 2: Halflings 3: Elves (as long as it´s something other than the tree-hugger cliché) 4: Warforged 5: Shifters Not taking monster races into account, for the sake of space and ease. |
| Kirk9905-10-07, 01:51 PM | 1. Human 2. Dvati 3. Wild Elves 4. Artic Dwarves 5. Warforged 6. Goliath 7. Half Minotaur 8. Avariel 9. Air Genasi 10. Tibbit |
| KoraktheBarbarin05-10-07, 01:57 PM | I once played a Brownie Wizard, that was loads of fun. I also like Kenders they can be real fun in the right players grasp.:) |
| Ocom05-10-07, 02:13 PM | Well if it's not a dwarf, an elf or any halfbreed then it's OK with me. |
| Kobold_Avenger05-10-07, 02:16 PM | 1:Kobold(duh) 2: Tiefling 3:Lizardfolk. |
| skio05-10-07, 02:46 PM | Thri-Kreen. Insect-guys with psychic powers? Very futuristic! |

| Crimsondagger05-18-07, 12:20 PM | Any dwarf is a good dwarf Second would have to be half orc Then the Anthro species from Savage species and then the wierd bear thingy and neanderthal from frostburn A true warrior will fight after all other options have been exhausted. |
| Nat_2005-18-07, 02:40 PM | My top 5 goes like this: 1: Elves, Like the fact that their a species for every occasion... 2: Human, need i say more??? 3: Kenku, what is it about a race of overgrown crows that makes me wanna play them? 4: Orcs, and not those stupid half weakling ones, but the full blooded, battle hungry, great-axe wielding badass's of D&D(also exp fodder for others, what can ya do...) And 5: ummm 5.... im out of stuff right now... crap |
| Kasumi_Chan05-18-07, 05:32 PM | Elves (sun, moon, drow), half dragon, half celestial, half demon/devil, and dragons |
| LoneStranger05-18-07, 07:54 PM | 1. Dwarves, except for the evil ones, not too fond of those. 2. Warforged, what's not to love about an intelligent golem? |
| Sareld05-18-07, 08:05 PM | My favourite race altogether? Thats a tough one, as it ultimately depends on what kind of character I aim to play, but I do always plays some kind of elf. If I had to rank them, it would be: 1 Grey Elves. - These make excellent rogues, and they are the best +0LA race for wizards in the entire game. Plus, their style is absolutely unmatched, I just love RPing grey elves. 2 High Elf/Moon Elf. - This is the easiest kind of elf to get permission to play, because it is in the PHB. Ive had a few decent high elf wizards and clerics, but this race does best as rogue tpye characters. 3 Wild Elves. - Come on, smashy characters dosent get better than these guys. I usually play high dex type characters no matter what class I go for, so physically these elves are nigh unmatched. 4 Wood Elves. - I play these when I want to play a brawny character, and dosent feel like RPing a wlid wharacter. The con penalty hurts, but the str and dex bonus rock big time. 5 Silvanesti Elves. - Possibly even stronger mechanically than the grey elves, but their cha penalty hurts my playing style. Their skill bonuses and elfsight makes them come out in top when considering raw arcane power through intelligence based casting though. |
| TheCarrionCrawler05-18-07, 11:36 PM | Yay! How fun! In no particular order... Human Gnome Whisper Gnome Half-drow Mithral Elf Goliath Tiefling Half-Ogre Sea-Kin Underfolk Mongrelfolk Half-giant Elan Dromite All new Eberron races(warforged, changeling, kalashtar, shifter) Flesh Golem Troll Mohrg Katane All Dragon Magic slightly altered version (silverbrow humans, etc...) Spiker Azurite ...can't think of any more... |
| Argo05-19-07, 03:01 AM | Whisper Gnome Halfling Gnome Half-Orc (modified) Human Least favorite - Dwarf |
| silvianna05-19-07, 04:09 AM | Half Elves come always first at my mind and then perhaps the Gray Elves or Humans but Half Elves always come first!!!! |
| Frogmantis05-19-07, 04:57 AM | Human Satyr Elf (all varieties, especially gray elves, except drow... because i'm just sick of them) Gith (both kinds) a favorite one of mine is a wild/high elf blend. she's the best of both worlds. |
| DreamerInsane05-19-07, 05:33 AM | Dragons, dragonblooded, and undead, but not undead dragon-stuff. Other than that, probably fey and elves. I like Killoren and Aquatic Elves especially. EDIT: Forgot Dusklings. What's wrong with me Oo |
| Explosive_Zombie05-19-07, 06:13 AM | Thri-kreen and anything with the Insectile template! I love bugs! On that same note there need to be a prestige class with and insect theme that ISN'T EVIL!!! |
| darkdragonk05-19-07, 04:28 PM | Not including guys with LA, KOBOLDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| ElberethSilverleaf05-19-07, 04:46 PM | Giant Space Hamsters... If you don't get the reference I can only shake my head in dismay..... |

I don't understand how you stand them, what with their utter lack of testosterone and that awful, awful limitation of not being able to wield weapons that do more then 1d6 points of damage. |
| fiendish_platypus05-19-07, 06:03 PM | *whistles* That's a lot of elfs. I agree mostly with your post, but if I recall correctly the longbow, wich is a staple elf weapon, does 1d8 damage... |
| Einvaldurinn_mikli05-19-07, 06:11 PM | I agree mostly with your post, but if I recall correctly the longbow, wich is a staple elf weapon, does 1d8 damage... It can't be, seeing as how it violates the damage cap. Anyone playing an elf and using a longbow isn't playing elves as written, but some strange parody of the real thing. If you can't tell, I really don't like elves. |
| darkdragonk05-20-07, 12:34 AM | If you can't tell, I really don't like elves. Join the party. but I agree that any elfs doing anything more than 1d4 is in Violation ESA (Elfs suck ***) and are to be immedeatly persecuted. P.S I would like to point out for anyone with TES: Morrowind, that Fargoth is an elf to rest my case:P |
| Adamaro2305-20-07, 03:58 AM | I also hate elves, 1. Gnoll 2. Genasi 3. Di'hin'ni (plantouched halfling from Dragon) 4. Hadozee 5. Minotaur (LA +0 version from Dragonlance) 6. Satyr 7. Hengyokai 8. Shifter 9. Teifling 10. Aisimar |
| Adamaro2305-20-07, 04:00 AM | P.S I would like to point out for anyone with TES: Morrowind, that Fargoth is an elf to rest my case:P yeah, along with Gaenor, Glarthir, and the Adoring Fan |
| ElberethSilverleaf05-20-07, 08:27 AM | Valley Elf |
| CyberDrgn05-20-07, 04:24 PM | Dwarves, gnomes, humans... and once in a while an halfling. Whenever I played with unusual races and their halfbreed counterpart, their RP ended up as a mix of emo, munchkin and S&M bondage queen (when evil). |
| Einvaldurinn_mikli05-20-07, 04:38 PM | Join the party. Join?!? I am one of the founding fathers of that party! |
| fiendish_platypus05-20-07, 04:56 PM | I don't really like elves either... |
| Einvaldurinn_mikli05-20-07, 05:01 PM | I don't really like elves either... Maybe you should check out my sig? See if you want to join the cause? |
| OzyBurrfoot05-21-07, 03:15 PM | 1. Kenders (DragonLance) 2. Half-Giants (DarkSun) 3. Shifters (Eberron) 4. Faen/Sprytes (Arcana Evolved) 5. Whisper Gnomes (generic D&D) |
| ElberethSilverleaf05-21-07, 05:40 PM | Stoutheart Hobbits |
| zzo3805-21-07, 05:49 PM | It can't be, seeing as how it violates the damage cap. Anyone playing an elf and using a longbow isn't playing elves as written, but some strange parody of the real thing. Where does it say anything about damage cap? It isn't in the Player's Handbook. What version are you playing? Anyways, I often play human, and sometimes drakeling (from ADOM). (Actually the first time I played, I selected a race at random because I didn't know what race or class to pick, and it was a human wizard). |
| Aetheryn05-21-07, 05:57 PM | Good ol' fashioned Human. I'm easy to please. |
| Einvaldurinn_mikli05-21-07, 06:02 PM | Where does it say anything about damage cap? It isn't in the Player's Handbook. What version are you playing? 3.5 |
| CantripN05-21-07, 06:16 PM | Where does it say anything about damage cap? It isn't in the Player's Handbook. What version are you playing? 3.5 - Can an elf wield a greatsword? (http://boards1.wizards.com/wotc_archive/index.php/t-692629) Also - Humans. Followed by Illumians. ...and Grey Elves (but only because of the Wizard Sub. Level(s)!) |
| Tyberian05-21-07, 06:20 PM | 3.5 I have always been partial to the half-orc and am very partial to anything and everything that kills elves, especially in large numbers, the exception being the orc pantheon. One look at Gruumsh's divine rating in Deities and Demigods shows that he would have trouble taking out Yondalla much less Moradin or Corellon.:fight!: :fight!: :fight!: |
| skywyze05-21-07, 06:29 PM | It's from a Dragon magazine, but... Ghost Elves! Here's a little information about them from what I remember: Just after the Elves were first created, some of them were kidnapped by a powerful demon lord, to serve as slaves in the Abyss for thousands of years. While the other elves were squabbling among themselves, including the creation of the Drow, these guys were fighting demons and monsters in hellish arenas for the entertainment of their demonic slavemasters, or being subjected to arcane experiments. After thousands of years of natural selection in a hostile environment, one of them - with the help of other plotting demon lords - managed to find a way out and took hundreds of ghost elves with them. Now they live in cities hidden in the infinite misty haze that is the ethereal plane. When they fight, they use their mastery of the ethereal plane (Plane Shift as an Su for example) to all of a sudden pop in, surrounding their enemies. They kill them off quickly and plane shift back before anyone knows what happened. They're full of awesome... For an elf. Other than that, I like Aasimars as well. Too bad they suck, mechanically speaking. |
| Beebage05-21-07, 08:12 PM | My favorite races are: 1.) Mind Flayer 2.) Minotaur 3.) anything with vampire in it. 4.) Elf |
| Manus05-21-07, 08:22 PM | Warforged Bards I am the walking ipod. I can remember up to 5000 of your favorite songs. With the right illusions, I can play video as well. Would you like to register me? |

| ArcaneCleric05-21-07, 08:28 PM | My favourites = 1. Humans 2. Deep Imaskari 3. Dwarves 4. Halflings Ones I am neutral to (in other words, don't care about) = 5. Gnomes 6. Half-Elves 7. Half-Orcs Ones I hate (purely because I've never seen them played any way I can actually like) = 8. Elves |

| Uberfish05-22-07, 05:31 PM | Goliath!!! All the way! By the way, Does anybody know a good name for a goliath ranger? I'm having a bit of namer's block. |
| fiendish_platypus05-22-07, 05:45 PM | Well if it's not a dwarf, an elf or any halfbreed then it's OK with me. Well, this one time I mad a half-dwarf elf... [/Sarcasm] |

| Keaerin05-24-07, 02:18 AM | #1 KOBOLD!!!!!! #2 copper dragon (from dragon mag kinda a race and class like in SS) #3 Dwarves (played a dwarf drunken master once) #4 Human/halfling are tied here (dino riding halflings FTW) |

| Stanwick05-25-07, 06:43 PM | Favoite Races: Goblin Human Kobald Although my favorite character ever was a Kender Smart, Devoted, Fast, Infiltrator in an Urban Arcana Campaign. Do you have any idea how much trouble a kender can get into in a modern setting? Cars, Helecopters, Guns Explosives :D:evillaugh:dancin::devil: |
| demonassassinlusumus05-25-07, 08:16 PM | my fav is the drows |
| Qooroo05-25-07, 11:35 PM | Human, Gnome (the PHB kind - the Whisper Gnomes are too far away from the kind of character I like to RP, though I have no particular objections to them otherwise), Feytouched, Petal, Pixie, Dwarf, Azurin |
| Forgotten_Warrior05-26-07, 01:24 AM | A half-elf is my favorite race, in Forgotten Realms the elf part would be moon-elf. |
| Fleck05-26-07, 03:52 AM | I like... Uglies: Orc Half-Orc Ogre Half-Ogre Goblin Hobgoblin Mongrelfolk etc. Anthros: Gnoll Minotaur Satyr Catfolk Goatfolk Kenku Yuan-Ti etc. I dislike races that should be fey: Elves - I'd replace them with Killoren (but looking like elves). Kobolds - Who came up with the idea to give them scales and and make them related to dragons? They are supposed to be small mischievous elflike fey. |
| Tytalus05-28-07, 12:50 PM | Tieflings, Humans, Kobolds Also nice: Goliaths |
| Hanzo18705-28-07, 04:31 PM | Hmm... 1. Wood Elf 2. Human 3. Warforged 4. Changeling |

| mhacdebhandia05-29-07, 07:33 PM | so whats your favorite Humans, hands-down. |
| Yeti994405-29-07, 08:23 PM | My fav is the simple yet ever growing Elf slayer if it can kill elves my attitude towards it is friendly or loyal and my second is Half-Orc |
| Disciple_of_Juiblex05-29-07, 09:38 PM | I have a few but my new favorate race? Vril (Drow of the underdark). Small size, no Str penalty, Fast, short time Dr/5, Cone damage attack at first level. all that and more for the low, low price of LA+ 0 , with no monsterous levels :D |
| Ruike05-30-07, 07:16 AM | Wood elf, wild elf, catfolk. |
| Ruike05-30-07, 07:18 AM | Favorite hostile npc race? GNOLLS. They will stop to eat your corpse in the middle of battle if they are hungry enough. Never forget to roll your d4 to see how many rounds until they shield bash. |
| Radiant11705-30-07, 08:05 AM | I like sun elf racial abilities for fighter-type characters and gray elf abilities for wizardly ones. I don't like elves per se, especially since Races of the Wild. Our current DM, though, does a good job making elves admirable, not despisable. "The book says elves are wussy, prissy little snobs, Tony." "Not our elves! Our elves kick ass!" --Cristophe Shill, Casual Gamers (http://www.casual-gamers.com/) |
| skywyze05-30-07, 08:28 AM | Our current DM, though, does a good job making elves admirable, not despisable.Just curious - how does your DM pull that off? |
| RainDragona05-30-07, 12:32 PM | I'm going to say... Lets see...half dragons, Yuan ti (abomonations, or half breed) , and gnomes. Got to love those gnomes. :) |
| Xeres05-30-07, 12:40 PM | Ogre Mage Pixie Githzerai Svirfneblin |
| Illusionlord05-31-07, 04:41 PM | I'm a gnome-lover, throgh and through. they make awesome arcane spellcasters, especially illusionists or warmages, the latter due to h fact that their small size adds armor bonus. |
| Kalarus05-31-07, 06:14 PM | Grey Elves, usually. I find them suited for a lot of the characters I tend to play. Occasional regular High Elf. For some reason that draws a bit of playful heat from my fellow players and lots of anti-Elf jokes, which I never really got. Tried a Dwarf recently, so far so good. Humans are nice, but... dunno, they need more spice. Don't always feel like coming up with something of my own. Hate Gobliniods... mostly because my DM loves them too much. Gets interesting with my Dwarf though, hate-hate relationships. Want to play a Goliath, but all three of my DMs think they're overpowered as a race  |
| Tyberian05-31-07, 06:24 PM | My fav is the simple yet ever growing Elf slayer if it can kill elves my attitude towards it is friendly or loyal and my second is Half-Orc AMEN!AMEN!AMEN!AMEN! :hoppingma :hoppingma :hoppingma :hoppingma :hoppingma :hoppingma KILL THEM ALL! |
| skywyze05-31-07, 06:39 PM | Wow, I had no idea there was such a market for elf-slaughter. Seriously, there might be some kind of business idea here. Maybe the next character I make will be a gnome artificer with his own magic shop. He could build elf-detecting radars, elf-repellants, elf-specific poisons and the horrid Elf-O-Matic. Just don't ask what the latter does, it's too horrible to conceive. :evillaugh |

Why not white Dragons they are wild and eat lots of elves and a healthy diet of elves will make you more magically resistant to sleep effects. ... a few other races I like are Centaur Raptoran Thri-keen and Varag I really like them all cause I have a need, a need for speed.:D |
| Tusalu06-01-07, 02:33 AM | Dwarf, gnome, kender, tinker gnome, human |
| JolanthusTrel06-01-07, 02:47 AM | Dragons Elves Romulans Vulcans Kender |
| baby_kamikaize_kobold06-01-07, 04:36 PM | 1 Dwarves (for life) 2 Kobold (massed hordes and a hate for elves. I'm sold) 3 Hobgoblins (goblins without chaos) 4 Lizardfolk 3way tie (poisondusk, standard, and blackscale) 5 Minotuar (they'll eat your childern) |
| Beefypistolsnipe06-01-07, 08:09 PM | Gnomes are just too small... I'm afraid for them; they look like they just might break at any moment... 1. Gnolls! (badass) 2. Humans (I love versatility and infinite possible backgrounds) 3. Dragonborn (pretty neat concept) 4. *edited* I've changed my mind. I'd rather put Thri-Kreen in this spot. |
| Braekor Dragonfang06-02-07, 10:17 AM | hmmm, this is a tough one... 1. Drow - Because I tend to break every stereotype there is. Good drow? no angst: Plucky, annoyingly positive minded, illiterate barbarian. Evil? forget psychotic evil: lawful evil, polite, controlled, and emotionally stable 2. Kuo-Toa - Crazy Zealot Fish People! just don't use the crappy picture in the monster manual: underdark rules! :D 3. Half Illithid (Orc, Half-Giant, or Grimlock) - Tentacles, Improved Grab and Extraction, need I say more? 4. Star Elf - The only surface elf I like 5. Thri-Kreen - Four Arms, plus the MM2 version doesn't have crappy psi-like abilities to bog down LA (Note: I like psionics, just don't get them in my bug people! :D ) |
| Drake_the_Windseeker06-02-07, 11:29 AM | 1. Any True Dragon. Hey, if they're half the name of the game, they've gotta rock. That, and I have a fascination with Dragons that borders on obsession. 2. Half-Dragon. Can be applied to any race or monster and make it one SMOKIN' creature. Be afraid. 3. Dragonborn. I think they're an interesting concept. 4. Dragonkin. Monstrous Humanoids that can compare to a half-dragon. Pit those two together, or put them together in one Large package. It's glorious. |
| Shiftkitty06-02-07, 12:00 PM | 1) Githyanki- I've liked these guys since I first saw the original Fiend Folio on the shelf at the toy store. I created an outlaw character (back before the game even officially allowed monster PCs) whose goal in life was to go gunning for the lich-queen to free his people from her tyranny. Took awhile, but now his butt warms the throne. Although far more merciful than the lich-queen, he still watches his people very closely and does his best to stay on top of his game. No resting on the laurels for this odd immortal. 2) Drow- Let's face it. Menzoberranzan is a modern feminist's wet-dream, and I've got a soft spot for the down-trodden males. (While my friends in school were playing soap-opera mindgames with their boyfriends, I was deemed a 'traitor to my sex' because I'd let them know how to read the body language and subtler signs, and I'd tip 'em off when I knew they were just being strung along and made fools of as part of some power game. I'd even help them turn the tables. I couldn't help it. I like guys too much to see them get hurt.) Political intrigue, "Do unto others... but don't get caught", double-dealing underhanded backstabbing, and somehow this bunch stays together. This dysfunctional society works in a twisted way at a level of "comfortable chaos" where the only thing that's certain is uncertainty. What's not to love? |
| o_b_livion06-02-07, 03:32 PM | Mine would be Changelings. You can be anything you want. Heck, you can EAT all you want and shift it to 6 pack abs! Actually, I'd do 8. |
| key06-15-07, 12:04 PM | Gray Elf ^^ |
| Hellsbells06-15-07, 12:21 PM | at the risk of being uninventive, drow and gnolls. or the buckha from sandstorm. |
| bigsnarf06-15-07, 08:14 PM | Human:P ,they are the most flexable race ever.Humans are always at the heart of the game. Most of your badguys are human. If I had a second choice it would be the kender from Dragonlance.:bounce: they are so cute and get away with anything. They also get great one-liners like"Hey,I put this in my pocket so the others would'nt get the idea that YOU stole it when their backs where turned, that smart,eh?" |
| Soltares06-15-07, 09:11 PM | Back in 2e, I played only Grey Elves and Aquatic Elves (or Aquatic 1/2 Elves), with the occasional freak character such as a Xixchil, 1/2 Ogre Mage or Gnomish Giant Space WereHamster... (We had a fun 'brute squad' party consisting of an Ogre, a Wemic, a Minotaur and a Giff.) In 3e, I stick to Humans for most characters, with the occasional other race based entirely on whether or not they have a cool racial Alternate Class Feature that seems worth losing that precious bonus feat. (Elven Wizard for instance.) For theme, my favorites would be Gnolls and Lizardfolk, if they didn't have such nasty LA issues, or setting specific critters like Spider-Eye Goblins, Asaatthi or Charduni. |
| Nentisys06-19-07, 03:10 PM | Hmm.. well this is gonna be a hard one. Maug - one of my most beloved (and also shortlived..) characters was a Maug fighter, wielding a two-bladed sword. Totally badass. Drow - dunno, so .. cliche, but still kinda cool. Wood & Wild Elves Killoren - something... primeval about them. Suloise Humans - Greyhawk'ian. |
| LoreleiIsildae06-19-07, 05:49 PM | Well, what can I say, I'm a sucker for drow. Sure, people call them cliche because of their popularity, especially with newer players, but damn are they fun. Devious, vile, cunning, conniving, manipulative, able to see in the dark (take Daylight Adaptation at 1st level and you're good to go on the surface too), spell resistance... the SLAs may only be moderately useful (though darkness is uber-handy), but the +2 DEX, CHA, and INT, more than make up for the CON penalty. Play a drow who worships someone either than Lolth or Eilistraee and you have some interesting plot contrivances in your game. After the drow, I'd have to say half-orcs. Something beyond the conventional dumb brute. |
