Just so you understand, THIS IS NOT OF PC USE!

I've got an old adventure that has a powerfull casting race trapped in a pocket dimension and I'm trying to come up with someing that isn't overkill (or at least as quickly :) )
There is a PrC that suits the flavor, but taking Ur-Priest at 1st level is just a bit scary.

The only racial adjustments would be Int +2, Wis +6, Chr +4 and favored class Ur-Priest (able to ignore ALL requirements)

So, I wouldn't worry about a level adjustment, for being able to take the PrC at first level.

Ur-Priest at 1st level?? Just run a normal cleric and change up the flavor for it. UrP1 vs Cleric 1 is about even but UrP3 is so much stronger than Cleric 3. Given that Ur-Priest 10 is nearly the spellcasting equivalent of a Cleric 18 I'd say your opting of of the prereqs is worth at least a +4 LA or even +5 or more.

I'd also guess your race should have a +2 LA for those Stat adjustments which just scream SPELLCASTER.

Just use Cleric with Ur-Priest flavor silly-pants.

They're NPCs, just make them gestalt mage/clerics.

Or are you worried about the appropriate CR for these opponents?

yeah, that one. I've got a habit of expecting too much from my players combat wise. What I think would be a tough fight turns out leathal. :(
