When they attain fifth level (or otherwise get 5 hit dice), they are granted the ability of true flight. This is a result of the ancestral contract to which they are held, only the strongest can attain flight. |

RTFSRD (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/movement.htm#movingInThreeDimensions). You can fly at a speed of 40'. This is pretty much like normal movement, except you can do it in three dimensions and have a few maneuverability restrictions. You must move 20' each round or you go into a stall, you track your facing and must move 5' for every 45 degrees in a turn, you can spend 5' of movement to turn 45 degrees in place without moving up to 90 degrees (this doesn't count towards the 20' you must move to avoid going into a stall), you can gain altitude at a 60 degree angle (you must move diagonally upwards, and you must move forwards one space non-diagonally for every upwards diagonal movement), you can fly straight up but doing so requires you to spend 10' of movement for every 5' travelled, you can fly downwards at any angle you please and you do so at double speed, and whenever you finish changing your altitude you must fly level for 5' of distance (unless you immediately begin to descend after ascending). Complicated, I know. But that's why you get it at level 5, it's a "difficult" ability and requires a mastery of the rules expected from someone playing a level 5 character. |
