| Fox Reeveheart03-15-07, 12:47 PM | I just took a look at the cormyr book art gallery and came across this super sweet picture of like some black dragon kobold O_O http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/Cormyr_gallery/103465.jpg Is he black half dragon kobold? Or is he black dragonwrought? o.o Its obvious by the fin and horns its black and what not. WHATS UP WITH HIS TAIL? O_o is he part undead or something too? its like just bone it looks like... like a scaled fish bone or something. Is he normal size? I'm just asking cause in the pic he looks scaled close to the size of the person behind him. Is he just a picture with no real talked about stats? o.o does he have a name?! I MUST KNOW! This can decide if I buy this or not! VIVA LA KOBOLD REVOLUCION! |
| Poison_Dusk03-15-07, 06:53 PM | I think that is not a kobald. Looks more likely to be half-black dragon/half lizardfolk. But couuld be half anything. See below pic. http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/UnA_Gallery/79144.jpg |
| Treymordin03-15-07, 07:05 PM | He looks too cool! |
| Fox Reeveheart03-15-07, 07:44 PM | I can see where you would think that it looks like a lizard folk... But after further inspection I am still sold that it's a kobold... reasons why... He doesn't look as bulky as a lizard folk. Again the size comparison to the person behind him may just be aesthetic, whatever the artist was thinking. good job to him too! Second, look at his legs, kobolds are the ones that have the forward bent legs. Lizard folk stand erect. Third. This may not say much but look at his weapons, all spears. Kobolds both in their monster manual pic and many others are shown nearly all wielding spears. Plus if you look at the racial substitution levels for kobold fighter in races of the dragon, the first level one replaces the feat with a weapon focus that is for spear, short spear, and long spear, along with any other spears your dm figures is appropriate, like great spear. He does look a bit small for a lizard folk too and doesnt look as.... well it just doesnt look like a lizard folk, compare that one to every pic of one around! He has the scrawnier look of a kobold! its a kobold im positive! |
| Thomar_of_Uointer03-15-07, 07:50 PM | Hmm... It has fur and spots. Anybody thinking a half-dragon gnoll? |
| Jshock_7503-15-07, 07:54 PM | My guess, he/she/it is half gnoll/black dragon; look at the elbows and ankles, I see tufts of fur. Plus the spots. What's the female (?) in the back, though? |
| Fox Reeveheart03-15-07, 07:59 PM | can't quite tell if thats fur... i mean what looks like tufts of fur also look like bits of fins that are on its elbows and stuff. and of course lizards can have spots too ya know. I can also see where it could be a gnoll...still a tough call, anyone with this book know what this guy is? Edit: I just took a look at some gnoll pictures, for one he looks to small to be part gnoll, let alone half dragon gnoll, i mean being half dragon of any kind usually makes you a little taller doesnt it? And as said before he looks a bit small for a gnoll. Plus I don't know if being half dragon would make your feet THAT MUCH bigger, look at the gnoll pics and look at their feet, its tiny paws! If thats a half-dragon gnoll then that half-dragon took a LOT more of it's draconic side. I'm not gloating or w/e, if I am proven wrong then ok fine =) more power to you! I really would like to know though. Edit #2: I just looked at kobold pic, he has spots too! |
| Thomar_of_Uointer03-15-07, 08:24 PM | But gnolls have long tails. See? |
| Fox Reeveheart03-15-07, 11:15 PM | a possible side effect from the dragon side... plus if you look... what the heck is up with that tail? Its like just bone like it got tore the hell up! |
| Treymordin03-16-07, 12:05 AM | The tail looks kind of fishy. |
| Kadasbrass03-16-07, 12:26 AM | Could be a new creature, more Spawn of Tiamat maybe. Could been decended from kobolds but genetically breed with different creatures to produce a new race. By the looks of the arrows it looks to small to be gnoll or lizardfolk. But while the overall body looks like a kobold to few other features match the kobold. Fur with spots, the muzzel isn't long enough or the eyes are too far forward (though may be a result of the clear black-dragon related bloodline. |
| Kearif03-16-07, 05:58 PM | What book is that in!? my dad probably has it! I don't care if it's half troll I what it! HELLOOO! BBEG! |
| kshade03-16-07, 06:11 PM | That one: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=products/fracc/956857200 |
| Stado03-16-07, 06:26 PM | I'd have to agree with Fox Reeveheart; it looks like a half-black dragon kobold more than anything. That, or something new entirely. |
| Neutronium_Dragon03-16-07, 07:07 PM | I would be more inclined to say half-fiend than half-dragon. |
| Fox Reeveheart03-16-07, 07:15 PM | I would be more inclined to say half-fiend than half-dragon. are you high? LOL! dude thats so half black dragon its not even funny, not only does he have the forward crumpled horns but ALSO has the fin atop his head just like a black dragon o.o demons dont have fins >.> silly ... maybe demon sharks O_O |
| WinterPsionic03-17-07, 02:29 PM | Since apparently I'm the only one with the book, and hopefully this won't be violating any rules, it's a shadowslain half-dragon lizardfolk. The thing in the back is a Shadar-kai which after looking at the chain makes ALOT of sense, I feel stupid for not noticing it earlier. Anyone interested in checking themselves the pic and info is on page 55, the names appear in the second to last paragraph. |
| Treymordin03-18-07, 09:40 AM | Is this a Forgotten Realms kobold? |
| WinterPsionic03-18-07, 11:37 AM | Is this a Forgotten Realms kobold? ....it's a Lizardfolk and since Cormyr is a FR book, that would make it a FR Lizardfolk  |
| Poison_Dusk03-19-07, 12:57 AM | ....it's a Lizardfolk and since Cormyr is a FR book, that would make it a FR Lizardfolk  I thought it would be a lizardfolk. It has a bunch of javilins on its back, just like the lizardfolk. Besides, blavk dragons are scrawny and skeletal looking, so that explains a lot. |
| Treymordin03-22-07, 09:04 AM | What book is it in and what does the book say? |
