They are a bunch of sprite-like creatures in MM3. Like pixies, they would have high dex scores but low str scores. Nothing wrong there.:)

Still now my cohort
has the following stats

Str 3
dex 26
con 21
Int 21
Wis 13
Cha 21

These stats equal PWN

are you sure these are proper stats?

by the way

That is entirely level dependant.

There's nothing wrong with creatures having high stat scores and being better than humans. Really, I'm confused, what's the problem?

Also, what level is your character?
Not the petal, your other character, the one that has the petal as a cohort.

1st Question:
petals have a LVL Adj. of +2

2nd Question
next LVL will be my 8th (5 Monk, 3 Dragon Fire Adept)
and thats when im getting my cohort (lvl 4 cohort by the way)
and my leadership score is 11 so.......

Yes, those would be the correct stats, assuming you rolled or otherwise received 11, 16, 17, 17, 13, 13.

Don't see what the problem is. You're playing an 8th-level character, and will be geting a 2 HD creature as a cohort (that's a maximum of 28 hp, provided the petal takes a level of barbarian and rolls a 12 for hp), AC 20 that deals 1 hp of damage on a successful hit, and has no reach (meaning it provokes attacks of opportunity in melee).

The ability scores are the only good thing the petal has. It's spell-like ability is nothing special (mind-affecting, Will save DC 15, or suffer a -5 to Listen and Spot and -2 on Will saves vs. sleep effects), and its DR makes it somewhat more resistant to dying.

I'm curious, why petal (a fey) as a cohort for an (obviously) dragon-themed character?

Agreed, whats the problem with some +2 LA race having some nice stats. its not like its rare.

You know what? I originally had a much longer response, but then I realized, these guys are ECL4 for starters, which in that case, it's fine. But once you start leveling this little guy in something that relies on charisma, thats where you start getting into Wisconsin-like areas of cheesiness. For example, starting him in a PrC that gets it's own spellcasting progression based on charisma.

I agree. There is a potential for perfectly aged cha-based cheesiness here. At ECL 4, it would be very far behind in spell levels. But with such a high Cha, when it does get to Save-Or-Die spells, they will be pretty hard to resist. If you feel like the petal's stats are too powerful, just ask your DM if you can power them down a bit. Maybe in exchange for dropping the LA by a point.

What relys on charisma that doesn't get hosed by an LA or 0ft. reach?
With a 4 ECL it will never be any form of caster whatsoever, so thats out.
Paladin is the next obvious path, but it has 0 reach so thats out.

Is there some charisma archer class I'm not familiar with?

Looks to me to be a pretty terrible race no matter how you cut it.

Well, like that other guy said, perhapse there is a PrC with self-contained CHA-based spellcasting? You know, kind of like the Ur-Priest has self-contained WIS-based casting. That may work out well for the Petal. Hrm... Divine Crusader? You'd still get the spells later, but it wouldn't be a total loss, since you'd still end up finishing the class...

The only thing that a Petal will excell at is a rogue, as they will be able to pull of sneak attack every now and then (thus doing more than 1 damage). They also are good at infiltrating, however that might be covered by level 5 (when you can first start playing one)

I guess we need an erratum for the Monster Manual III.
If not, i would enjoy reading what could justify a +4 Con for a tiny flying faerie :D
